We’re proud to share that Mildred Flores‑Thevenin, Settlement Housing Fund’s Director of Affordable Housing Marketing & Compliance, will be speaking at the 2026 New York State Affordable Housing Conference (NYSAFAH) on Thursday, May 14. Mildred will join the panel Housing Access Reform: Strengthening the Lottery & Marketing Systems at 12:00–1:15 PM to discuss the future of equitable, transparent, and efficient housing access across New York.
With 17 years of experience and leadership over 5,000+ units across NYC and Westchester County, Mildred continues to set the standard for excellence. In 2025, her leadership helped expand access to affordable housing through:
- 583 units leased, including 116 units for formerly homeless households
- 82,000+ applications processed and 320,000+ received for 911 newly opened units
- Record‑breaking lease‑up performance across multiple developments
As Mildred notes, integrating Pronto’s technology has cut application processing time in half, consolidating the entire document review and leasing workflow and helping accelerate lease‑ups across our portfolio. Mildred’s expertise is shaping the future of housing access, and we’re honored to have her represent Settlement Housing Fund at NYSAFAH 2026.

Our new Coney Landing development has officially closed and is commencing construction!
This new development project is bringing 179 much-needed affordable and supportive homes to the Coney Island community, replacing a surface parking lot with a resilient new 15-story development. This project stands as a powerful response to the strong need for more affordable housing across New York City; 60% of units will be dedicated to supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals and families, and additional affordable apartments will range from 30%-60% of the Area Median Income. The supportive housing units will be LGBTQ+ affirming, with dedicated on-site services provided by the The Jericho Project. Designed to meet the highest standards of sustainability—including Passive House certification and geothermal energy systems—this building will be a model of resilience, accessibility, and green design.
