The CLMA board of directors is excited to announce that Seth Pringle has been named our new director. Pringle has been involved with the Museum through various projects and freelance positions since 2008. He took on a leadership role in exhibition design and installation in 2018, and will now lead the way for the Museum into the next phase of our future.
A pillar of the local arts community for the past 20 years, Pringle has worked with numerous other organizations including the Maloof Foundation for Arts and Crafts, Pitzer College, Craft in America, the Ontario Museum of History & Art, the dA Center for the Arts and First Street Gallery Art Center. He is a practicing studio artist and holds a BFA in Ceramics from Ohio University and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University.
Pringle’s curatorial focus involves creating unexpected connections between works of art, which prompt viewers to see them in new and deeper ways. One of his important goals is to facilitate artists to realize their vision through collaboration.

David Dart started working at the Folk Music Center with Charles Chase just out of High School in 1962. This is Sammie, our Jindo rescue. When we got her from @ivhsspca she had been a stray for far too long and was 10 lbs underweight and terrified. We could tell there was a sweetie pie behind the trembling anxiety though. The pound had her listed as a German Shephard Shiba Inu mix but we did a genetic test and found out she's 100% Jindo! (Which we had never heard of). Jindos are native dogs from the South Korean Jindo Island. They're a National Treasure in South Korea. If you're curious, the Wikipedia page on Jindos is fascinating.
Like most shelter dogs/strays, her emotional trauma has been slow to unwind, but she's the biggest sweet heart. She's still extremely wary of trash cans on walks though. 😆

I had a revelatory studio visit with painter Brown Lethem. He's had a long and accomplished career but I think the work he's been making since moving to sunny Southern California a few years ago is his best yet. Sophisticated without pretentiousness. Joyful yet intense. His palette alone leaves me in wonder.
