Take a closer look at the production design of Frankenstein (2025)! Sharing some of our favorite builds. Winner of the 2026 Academy Award for Best Production Design, this film is a visual masterclass in innovative world-building and practical set construction. Production designer Tamara Deverell created 119 sets for the project, including 24 studio builds. The ship alone measured nearly 130 feet long. Giant icebergs were constructed using metal base structures, then clad with Styrofoam and silicone, and finished with real snow and ice for added realism. The production also utilized several Scottish and English stately homes, including Gosford House, Burghley House, and Wilton House. What was your favorite scene? Production Designer - Tamara Deverell Brandt Gordon - Supervising Art Director
Celestria Kimmins - Senior Art Director
Emer O’Sullivan - Art Director: UK Set Decorator - Shane Vieau Lovely art department crew credits in comments!

Take a closer look at the production design of Sinners! One of the inspirations for the Juke Joint and Old Sammie’s Bar was the iconic Green Mill in Chicago. The walls were inspired by the wallpapered set in The King’s Speech, designed by Eve Stewart. Sinner’s walls were textured and scraped hundreds of times, treated with oxalic acid, then painted and scraped again to achieve the aged effect. The church was inspired by the praise houses of the early 20th century in the Mississippi Delta. It was constructed using rough-sawn dimensional lumber that naturally shrinks and warps as it dries, adding to the authenticity. Annie’s house was built on location at Creedmoor Plantation in St. Bernard Parish. What are some of your favorite sets from the film? Take a closer look at the production design of “The Penguin” series! The team aimed to create a “The French Connection” meets “Scarface” atmosphere. The show used real New York locations, such as the South Bronx and Yonkers for Crown Point — The Penguin’s home turf—and Chinatown for other scenes. Two visuals heavily associated with The Penguin — umbrellas and birds — were intentionally avoided in the sets until critical moments to ground the story and enhance its realism. Oz Cobb’s apartment was designed as a jewelry repair vault, a space that feels like a bank vault, with a cold, shiny, and metallic aesthetic. What are some of your favorite sets from the series? For the full list of the lovely cast and crew - please visit IMDB The Penguin (2024). Take a closer look at the art department’s work on “Conclave”, nominated for Production Design for the 2025 Academy Awards. Because the Vatican prohibits filming inside the Sistine Chapel production designer Suzie Davies and her team recreated the Sistine Chapel (and Casa Santa Marta) at Cinecittà Studios in 10 weeks! Davies tweaked the layout of the Sistine Chapel slighty, adjusting the seating for the College of Cardinals so they faced each other, creating a more political atmosphere. The Casa Santa Marta was designed with a prison-like atmosphere to emphasize the cardinals’ confinement. Take a closer look at Bridgerton, Season 3!  Deep dive into the lavish sets - Bridgerton’s third season includes eight different balls, and nine kilometers of ribbon were used for one ball alone. The Botanical Ball, for example, required thousands of fake flowers acquired by the show’s florists. Some new sets in season 3 include the Cowper family home, the home of Will and Alice Modrich, and Lord Hawkins’ home at Grimsthorpe Castle.  Three real-life England locations were used for this season: Osterley Park and House in Isleworth for the Full Moon Ball, Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire for the Innovations Ball, and Hampton Court Palace in Richmond for the Queen’s Ball. Take a closer look at the art department’s work on “Nosferatu” (2024), nominated for Production Design for the 2025 Academy Awards. Production Designer Craig Lathrop is also known for his collaborations with Robert Eggers on films such as The Northman, The Lighthouse, and The Witch. Did you know the production worked with 5,000 live rats? The team built plexiglass barriers so that the live rats would be in a controlled area, and they also built half-meter square mats where they had fake rats spread all over the ground. See visuals on slide 3!
