It's taken years of hard work after my first rejection to get here, but I'm beyond proud to say that today I was officially made a member of the MPSE.
If you know me at all, you know it's been a long-time goal of mine, and this is not necessarily an easy association to get into.

This weekend I have not one, but two series premieres coming to your TV.
I was fortunate to be the sound editor on the new series Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse, which begins airing June 2nd on HGTV and Magnolia. Chip and Joanna Gaines celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Fixer Upper with this special spin-off.
I am also the sound editor for the revival/reinvention of Dinner and a Movie, starring Jason Biggs and his wife Jenny Mollen, which kicks off June 1 with Aquaman on TBS. It's going to be a lot of fun.

I know I posted about @scenicfights hitting 1 million YouTube subscribers recently, but there’s something more official about the whole thing when you get the actual gold play button in your hands.
So proud of this little channel and the entire team behind it, from producers to crew, and of course our awesome cast of experts and special guests.

October had me out on location more in a month than I normally do in 6 months. Post production is great but it's nice to get out and stretch the old legs every once in a while!
When the calendar started filling up I knew it was time to make some long-delayed upgrades to my foldable location cart.
Started with adding some big beefy back wheels to help it glide smoother over rough terrain (cobblestone and paver sidewalks, I'm talking about you!).
Next was to add a second boom pole holder and bottom cup, in the event I need to prep a second pole, or even turn a pole into an antenna mast at some point.
Then I attached a backseat organizer to the steering side which works great to store extra stuff like a slate, markers, even copies of the script or call sheet, as well as other miscellaneous tools.
Finally, clamped some handles onto the main stock handle. It allows for easier steering/handling as well as a place to hang cables or headphones once parked.
Could I have just ponied up the money for a budget-friendly cart that's already mass produced? Sure. But what I love about this little guy is that it's all DIY and customized to my own needs. I love a good craft project when I've got time for one, and this scratches that itch of creative problem solving.

It’s taken 6 years to get here but we’ve enjoyed every moment making content that’s as much for us as it is for our fans.
I’ve been involved with the project from before our current content model, so I’m extremely proud of this milestone. That’s one million individuals, humans, that saw what we put out and rather than just scrolling or clicking away, decided they want to regularly stay on top of what we do going forward.

A sound mixer in the wild, carefully watching to make sure talent doesn’t stand up and try to walk away while they’re hardwired. Because that would look a lot like something out of Looney Tunes, with some production insurance issues mixed in.

I got to meet him and shake his hand for what was probably less than 5 seconds, just long enough for a Polaroid snap, but I can still say I got to shake his hand.

Words can’t begin to describe the positive influence his music has had on my life, personally. I’m very seriously without words right now. I haven’t been this heartbroken over a musician since Dimebag Darrell and Peter Steele.
