“Uni Ti Taaw” is a multisensory initiative that explores the intersection of cultural heritage, sonic sensory learning, and inclusive design by engaging the visually impaired youth of La Union in a co-creative process with Banda Kawayan Pilipinas and Hiraya Collective PH.
On March 31, 2025, Hiraya Collective PH and Banda Kawayan Pilipinas commenced their collaboration at Serenity Deck with a joint recital entitled “Sinlayan”, which served as a prelude from a two-day workshop. Central to this project is the concept of Genius Loci, or the “spirit of place,” which recognizes the ways in which cultural, environmental, and sensory elements shape human experiences.
More than an exploration of music, “Uni Ti Taaw” is a deeper investigation into how space, material, and sound can be reimagined for accessibility and cultural continuity, highlighting the potential of multisensory storytelling as a tool for sustainable and inclusive creative practice.
As an essential part of the project’s Genius Loci, Serenity Deck provides a meaningful backdrop where nature, community, and creative exchange converge, reinforcing the sensory and cultural grounding of the collaboration. The recital piece “Sinlayan” ultimately reflects a fusion of traditional music and inclusive artistic expression.
