This project lends itself to the development of a campaign.
It explores the tension between historical craft and contemporary culture through the development of a typeface.
Inspired by letterpress, the material tactility of print, and the influence of Morris Golden, the typeface Legacy Serif translates historical structures into a modern sporting campaign.
Nike was chosen as the context due to the authority it holds in shaping football’s contemporary aesthetic. Subtle references to the brand emerge through inktraps and distortions embedded within characters. Digitally roughened edges reinforce the letterpress inspiration, creating a collision that re-frames football heritage through modern typographic expression.
