Sandra Pérez Lozano is a writer, visual artist and multidisciplinary creator who lives and works on the island of Holbox. She is the founder of Ser Casasandra and La Isla Residencia, spaces that connect artistic creation with life and the local community. Her work has been exhibited in Cuba, Mexico and the United States, including the Havana Biennial, and is part of private collections.
This exhibition brings together recent works created in Holbox through an intuitive, free and deeply organic process. Using available materials, limitation becomes possibility. The series moves between abstraction, geometric figures, planes, textures and non-configurative compositions, incorporating collage, ink, colored markers, mixed media, wood, felt and installation elements.
The exhibition invites the viewer to pause, contemplate and inhabit a space of quietude, where expression emerges before the idea and sensitivity precedes interpretation. As the title suggests: art, like life, does not always need to be explained. It happens first.
