One of the best days of the year on the K-8 campus! Talon Tales AND Teddy Bear Picnic!
The 2026 edition of Talon Tales (the K-8’s literary journal) made its debut at this morning’s All School Meeting, followed by Drop Everything and Read!
A giant thank you to Jocelyn Holland and our volunteer editors and readers for all their hard work bringing this year’s edition to life! Congratulations to Sahara ‘32 and Avy ‘32 for having their work chosen for the cover art! Happy Talon Tales and Teddy Bear Picnic to all who celebrate!
The Burrow class enjoyed a field trip today to Brick Lab LA!
BLaBLa is a family art space run by parents Adam Ward and Stacey Storey that lives somewhere between an artist’s studio, a creative lab, and a place to follow curiosity wherever it leads. ✨Thank you for hosting our students!
Our high school Debate Team acquitted themselves well at the Ednovate Invitational at USC Hybrid High College Prep!
Sequoyah students finished in the top three positions in Spontaneous Debate, with Owen ‘27, Luca ‘27 and Pluto ‘27 coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Eliana ‘29 came in 4th and Isla T ‘27 notched a win in her first ever tournament. Beauty ‘29, a new team member, came to cheer on her peers!
Go Gryphons!

Alum Spotlight! We were thrilled to welcome back Calaya Hudnut ‘13, Ethan Abderrahman ‘13, Simon Caplan ‘14, and Will Scott ‘14 for Anza B Share Night! They joined us around the campfire and were recognized for their beautiful work designing this year’s amazing Anza B t-shirt!
While the entire design crew couldn’t be there in person, they were definitely with us in spirit. A huge shoutout to the rest of this talented design cohort: alums Ann Kaufman ‘14, Violet King ‘14, Imogen Dalzell ‘14, and Mark Caplan P ‘10, P’14 (not pictured)!
Thank you all for keeping the Sequoyah spirit alive and creating such a fantastic design for this year’s trip!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Community Auction on Saturday night! It meant so much to see so many current parents, grandparents, alum families and special friends back on the K-8 campus!
Together we raised a record breaking $222,000 (and counting), all for the benefit of our skilled and passionate faculty and staff, our socioeconomically diverse student and family community, and an extraordinary academic program that energizes student curiosity and lifelong learning!
We could not be more grateful for your generous support! Thank you!
“I’M GOING TO COLLEGE” FUND: SEQUOYAH VALUES IN ACTION!
Four years ago, a graduating senior’s family established a fund to address inequities in the college admissions process by giving $10,000 to Sequoyah’s college counseling program. They did so because their child had raised questions at home about his own socio-economic advantages.
As a result, this fund is designed to directly support those Sequoyah students and their families who face the challenge of various college application processes and admissions expenses, such as travel, that they cannot afford. Tax-deductible contributions to the fund provide direct financial support not otherwise available from the prospective college or a student’s family resources. The college counseling fund is administered by the Director of College Counseling and with the approval of the High School Director.
Funds need to be replenished each year. Its ongoing success is dependent on our Stewardship, Perspective, and Collaboration. Please consider a donation.

We made history, won a league championship, and ran away from the competition in the Omega League Track and Field Championship last week. It was a total team effort, with every athlete and coach a part of the success. A few special performances deserving recognition:
Isla (‘27) was the top girls sprinter at the meet! She finished in second place in both the 200 and 100m, bringing home 16 points for Sequoyah.
Arty (‘27) led the team with 32.5 points. He won the 200 and 100m, qualifying for the CIF Prelims both by virtue of winning and by clearing the division standard time. He also finished second in the high jump and ran a leg in both relays!
Edie (‘27) finished second in both the 800 and 1600m. Her time in the 1600 was 5:58, setting a PR with her first sub 6 minute mile!
Jackson (‘27) competed in Sequoyah’s first ever hurdles race, winning the 300h! He also won the 400m and was a part of both relays. He qualified for the CIF Prelims in both individual events, clearing the division standard in the 400.
Raquel (‘29) in her first year in the program, won the shot put, qualifying her for the CIF Prelims!
The boys 4x100m relay team also qualified for the CIF prelims by winning the Omega League. Joining Jackson and Arty on this team are Noah (‘27) and Brandon (‘27).
Good luck tomorrow in the CIF Prelims to our qualifiers!!
