MUSIK | THE PLAYLIST • SEQUENCE OF EVENTS

Join us for the release concert of ‘The Art of Memory’, the debut album by Sequence Of Events, the collaborative project of Deniz Saridas and Joshua Gottmanns.
Emerging from the fertile chaos of Düsseldorf’s Salon des Amateurs scene, Sequence Of Events crafts a sound that feels like a memory slipping through your fingers – part dream, part noise, part truth. Rooted in post-industrial West Germany, the album folds kraut-infused electronics, shoegaze textures, and industrial rhythms into a surreal tapestry of introspective psychedelia.
Before and after the concert, Hing, Akra Ondo and sehraffin will play some records and get you dancing!
Date: 14.06.2025
Venue: Umbo, Zürich
Door: 20:00
Tickets at the door.
Come celebrate the release of The Art of Memory – a record not meant to be understood, but felt.
Düsseldorf duo Sequence Of Events release hypnotic single ‘Meagre Gardens’ from upcoming album ‘The Art of Memory’. Blending krautrock and industrial textures with processed vocals, this is electronic music that refuses to fade into the background.
Listen now - full album drops 06.06.25.

We’re thrilled to announce that @anu_berg , a new author, has joined us 👋💞📝 Anuschka hails from Frankfurt and brings a wealth of experience as an editor. Today we are publishing her first post, in which she introduces a dark, updated take on the classic shoegaze sound by @sequenceofeventssoe (out on @subjecttorestrictions ) and, while doing so, comes to the conclusion that Heraclitus knew it all along 🌊♾️🤯

About the artist
Growing up in the post-industrial wasteland of West Germany both spent their childhoods surrounded by blighted farmland and abandoned open-cast mines, living in social housing and the temples of religious fanatics. Saridas and Gottmanns individually found their way into fine art studies after already having experimented inside the local music scenes of the Rhein-Ruhr area which had been forged by Kraut, Punk, and raw forms of Techno.
The 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, all things electronic and eccentric, are clearly still a source of inspiration for the two self-taught musicians. Sometimes Sequence of Events sound like Shoegaze from a near future where the English Channel already evaporates under an inflating sun, sometimes they remind you of psychomagickal Industrial or Electronica from a parallel dimension where the Internet must have preceded the invention of analog synthesizers.
Sequence of Events join STRD with their first single ‚TAR / Becomings‘ today, in anticipation of their debut album!

💽 💿 📀
Among the weeping company
In sorrow-laden stillness
In a dim-lit chamber
Appears a headless figure
Lost in the tapestry
Of all the futures crimes
A spectral waltz of echoes
In the corridors of time
It disguised itself as poetry
While it propagated tar
Hot and thick molasses
And the minute hand keeps stirring
Tar
Tar
Everything is tar
