A look back at the era of Departure 1989 from its release on November 5, 2019. It was my first EP and I’m so thankful to @cmajorslodown and @shareefkeyes @bigbadtoni and @acoolassp for the part they played in making it successful. I overcame a fear of making music, of using my voice in unconventional ways, of expressing myself. I’m blessed to have made it and thankful for all 24.5K streams. I didn’t get to promote it and perform much from it due to moving to a new rural place and then Covid but I’m proud of the work of art. He’s Implacable was my sophomore EP and a chance to spread my wings even more. This project turned 4 years old last month and the growth was so clear to me. Trying new things vocally and being even more imaginative musically and image wise...I was so happy. I am excited to get even more out to you in time. ***Special Announcement everyone 🙂 *** With Conjure Yuh Up crossing 4000 plays on Spotify and Embrace coming out on June 15th, I have decided to reveal the cover of my sophomore EP He's Implacable. It will be released on all streaming June 25th and I will be selling physical copies/USBs beginning June 15th! This project was a labor of love. I worked hard to write the songs, record acapella demos myself, and help to produce the songs with Josh Florez, Isai Castelo, and Epithet Music. I began production on this project in September and we just finished the last song. This has truly been a labor of love. Thank you Martin for working with me on 2 songs and Mauricio for working with me on the rest. Thank you for understanding my vision and amendments and bringing it all into fruition. Now I have to get the new vocals and mixing completed and then the project is yours world! The anticipation is building and can’t wait to have this to you in the summer. This is a @cmajorslodown appreciation post. In spring of 2019 we were in the lab working on my debut EP Departure 1989. I really appreciated working with him and seeing how everything organically came together from my vision to his execution. He listened and worked well with me. His beats are amazing dynamic and versatile and he is going so far in his career. If you’re looking for an amazing producer check him out.

The last few months have been a trial for me. I’ve been silent the majority of the time but it’s been a lot on me in a few ways. However I trust in God and I know in His Time I will get to where I need to be. He has carried me through and provided for me and for that I give thanks. I will not give up hope and I know the best option will work out and if not it will get me one step closer. I am imperfect and the root of many of my problems but God continues to give me grace and mercy because He knows me, really knows me. And even in the midst of all this craziness in the world, God is working it out in His way. Keep going.

I praise God for another year of creativity, kindness, love, and transcendence. The last few years have been rocky but I am blessed to learn and move on to the next. A lot of great stuff coming up this year. I am committed to finding the bright side of every situation 🙌🏽 happy birthday to me ❤️

So I had a quick trip to New York this weekend and I had a nice time. This was a mostly play trip for me which was different, but I got to see some really wonderful art. @trysteptrip was absolutely awesome. @dahlak_leon wrote, produced live music, starred in, and astounded with the rest of the cast. He made an absolutely impactful appropriate piece of art in these times. Everything was so well done and the stepping choreography, singing, and dialogue all flowed so seamlessly. @freddyramseyjr was so dynamic in his role and it really showed his versatility. I was so impressed by his performance. The rest of the cast worked so well together to present the messages clearly and effectively. Thank you @theeopenhouseproject for helping me see the show. Go see this! The Monsters at @mtc_nyc truly something special. Seeing the sibling dynamic and the powerhouse performances of just two people on stage playing off energy and silence…. Brilliant. @aignermizzelle was so quirky, heartwrenching, powerful as she played the age range and let her vulnerability shine. @oaksmash had me teary eyed watching his performance. Seeing his journey over a decade and a half had been so wonderful and he did not disappoint in this role. His boxing prowess, attention to gesture, characterization, and ultimate breakdown made for a titanic performance. Go see this play! I also got to see @spellingbeenyc and that was a tour de force. Everyone was stellar in their roles and brought something new and heartwarming to the classic show. I finally got to see @jasmine_amy_r and she was so endearing in her role and sang! @kevinmchale was perfectly cast and made me so proud. Don’t miss this show! And I got to see @donaldlawrence in passing and share some of what his work meant to me. Thank you for being king and all the songs that really helped shape my faith.
