Australians have made it clear: they want to see the big, foreign owned, multinational fossil fuel companies pay their fair share of tax.
Even though the budget was a perfect opportunity for change, Labor would rather look after the interests of their dirty donors than the everyday Australians that they represent.
The Greens have been pushing for a 25% tax on gas exports for decades, and we wonât stop fighting for you now.
đ¨đ¨URGENT: THE FIGHT TO SAVE SCOTT REEF IS ON!!
Woodside is absolutely gunning right now for the new Browse gas field on top of Scott Reef to go ahead.
And they are now using this horrific war and fuel crisis to try and convince @rogercookmla and @albomp to approve this nightmare project!
Even though it would do ZERO to help the current situation.
Turning Scott Reef into a gas field would have DEVASTATING consequences for the environment.
It would see seismic blasting for years on end in endangered blue whale habitat.
Woodside wants to build a 900 kilometer long pipeline along the pristine Kimberley coast through two marine parks, risking a massive spill at any moment.
Browse is an absolute carbon bomb. Itâs one of the dirtiest gas fields around. And to push ahead with that development right now would be an absolute climate crime.
But we love our oceans here in WA. Our reefs, our whales, our Kimberly coast.
West Australians are not willing to sell out our oceans to Woodside!
Thereâs nothing in this project that actually benefits the people of Western Australia.
Woodside gets all the gas for free, pays no royalties, they earn billions in profit, and then they pay only a tiny percentage of tax on their profits.
@walabor MPs have to grow a spine and confront the dangerous pro-gas lobby that has taken hold of their party and #SaveScottReef!
THIS DECISION IS DUE SOON! JOIN THE CAMPAIGN!
@conservationcouncilwa are holding a Save Scott Reef event this Wednesday night! Please join in! Link in my bio and here! .au/mpmeetingworkshop_20260520
The yin and yang. Good with bad. Always in life. Autumn in #tasmania is the best time of the year by a country mile. So grateful to live here. To connect. But the Ocean is still so warm, new autumn land temperature records broken too. Things are changing. Surf has been pumping in May too, cost me a few boards đ Lastly, my home town of #bicheno just got voted best small town in Straylia (pic 5) of 100 fav towns. Good for tourism, or are we at capacity already? đ¤ˇđźââď¸ Yin and Yang. ( photo 1 @thomasmoorecreative đ).
Who knew? Fossil fuel companies blasting our oceans with some of the loudest noises produced by humans, looking for oil and gas we donât need that will further cook our oceans, put fisheries at risk! đ¤ˇđźââď¸ New peer reviewed research shows that seismic blasting decimates commercial fisheries (not to mention risks whales and other marine creatures). Why hasnât this harmful activity been banned? Oh, thatâs right, politicians in the pocket and industry spin! Full article and research paper in my bio. Thanks to @surfrideraus@marineconservation.au@save_our_coast@oceanclimatenetwork and others who have been campaigning to stop seismic testing in our oceans.
0.1% of the budget being allocated to protecting the environment is a fking joke.
Labor could do so much better; just not while theyâre married to the interests of fossil fuel corporations.
Scientific modelling suggests weâre heading for a super, super El NiĂąo.
While multinational fossil fuel giants make billions cooking the climate and exporting Australian gas for free, youâre the one who pays for it in the form of price hikes on insurance, healthcare, and even your groceries.
We need to be investing in climate science, phase out fossil fuels, and transition to 100% renewables.
Despite a $387 million boost in federal funding, the CSIRO is proceeding with plans to cut up to 350 full-time roles, including up to 150 positions in its Environment Research Unit.
These cuts have already had a significant impact on the CSIROâs workforce and culture â and while new funding is welcome, itâll be little comfort to the critical climate scientists and researchers whose jobs are on the chopping block.
The CSIRO needs additional funding and a new commitment from current and subsequent governments to properly support climate science at our premier public science organisation.
But with the government washing its hands clean of managing how new funding is allocated, the Greens fear there wonât be any investment in funding public good research in areas like climate science, with the CSIRO moving increasingly towards being a commercial consulting company.
Labor be like: taxing gas corporations â Letting them cook our climate for profit â
Labor has just approved the development of a new gas field in the waters near the iconic Twelve Apostles. They have now approved over 36 new fossil fuel projects.
Who is Labor working for: the Australian people or their fossil fuel industry donors?
In a new paper published this week, scientists in the US and China have found that microplastics, particularly coloured plastics, absorb sunlight and trap heat and are contributing to global warming.
Once plastic is produced, it never goes away. It just breaks into small, tiny, and then microscopic pieces that litter the planet from the oceans to our bloodstreams.
The Greens have been calling for a circular economy for years, where everything is designed for an end-of-life purpose rather than just creating more waste. We wonât stop fighting to tackle plastic waste at its source and will keep pushing to hold big producers of plastics reponsible for their waste.
