The legendary “SOUL ARTISTS OF ZOO YORK”.
My best memories as a kid.
This Throwback and Shoutout goes to my Older Brother a NYC Pioneer/Legend and original “Zoo York” Crew founding member “Ricky Mujica” @rickymujicaartist .
This is a 1978 NY Times article that another original founding member Jaime “Puppet Head” Affoumado @jaimeaff sent him last year.
In the mid 70’s this Crew that the Legendary “Andy Kessler” (R.I.P.), “ALI” and a few other kids formulate, built the first illegal SkateBoard Ramps in Riverside Park in Manhattan, from 95th Street to 97th Street.
This is one of four ramps that was built around the time the cult classic movie “The Warriors” was being filmed.
My Brother and other members where extras in the park scene when all the gangs were meeting in order to come together and fight the system.
I’m so blessed to had been to all these ramps and as a little kid I got to hung out with my older Brother that is 7 years my elder. Although I wasn’t as good on a skateboard as my Brother, I got to experience these moments first hand. I can actually say, that I skated with the Best Legends and Crew out of NYC to ever do it.
Salute to the Real Kings of New York. R.I.P. to all the Fallen Comrades, Pioneers, and Legends, and Salute to one’s that are still here.
Always Love and always Respect.
