▪︎ The Fable of The Scorpion & The Frog ▪︎
A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of the river. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I am sorry, but I couldn't help myself. It's my character.
This was so much fun to create. Thank you Murray for such an interesting idea.

Here is a tattoo I created based on the scottish Folkore creature The Kelpie.
My client asked the horse to be based on an icelandic pony she used to have when she was younger. Such a lovely way to combine a much loved companion with a folklore creature.

Feminine rage flash 💃
I’ve recently felt the urge to revisit irezumi and ukiyo-e inspired designs. I used to do a lot of work like this and felt inspired to change things up again. Hannyas are an incredible part of Japanese folklore, well worth reading about if you’re interested and don’t already know :)
The masks are also available just by themselves. I honestly think they’d make incredible hand or neck bangers.
I’ll be working on more flash with similar stylistic themes for the foreseeable, but I am always enthusiastic for Japanese custom work as well 👺
