The new space is STUNNING and Gallery Director Lucas Zenk did a tremendous job sequencing and installing Craig’s work.
This is our third exhibition with Craig and we’re honored to have collaborated again with @leicacamerausa We also provided prints and framing that are displayed throughout the new store.
I’m so glad to have been invited to be part of the absolutely EPIC opening last night. Once again, Leica has hit it out of the park.

Friends! I'm signing copies of my new book, "America Unposed" tomorrow, Sunday, April 12, at the Leica Gallery Los Angeles, from 1-3pm! I'm also going to tell stories behind some of the pictures. Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for (at least my mother). My almost 10 yr project on the United States has finally resulted in my new book, AMERICA UNPOSED. It completes the triumvirate of UNPOSED, INDIA UPOSED, and finally AMERICA UNPOSED. Published by Leica Camera and printed in Germany, the book has 96 pages and 67 images and is my first book of color photography. It is scheduled to be available March 16th at Leica Stores around the world and directly through Leica Camera's website. More details to come over the next week or so. In the meantime, I'm very excited about this book!
So yesterday was the 2nd anniversary of my lung transplants. Still alive, woo hoo! Never ending gratitude to my donor, the donor's family and the entire transplant team at UCLA. They are wonderful people who have taken great care of me throughout this roller coaster recovery. They are the best.
I woke up early this morning and took this photo around 6 o'clock. The moon has been crazy lately, and I'm glad it showed up just outside my window.

Matinee & Artist Talk mit Craig Semetko, dem amerikanischen Streetphotographen. Seine, oft sehr humorvollen Fotos, sind Bestandteil der aktuellen Ausstellung „Bewegendes Indien“, die noch bis zum 12. Juli in der Leica Galerie Stuttgart zu sehen ist. Semetko der nach dem College Komödienautor- und Darsteller wurde, entdeckte im Laufe der Zeit die Fotografie und die Leica M als weitere Möglichkeit des Geschichtenerzählens.
Craig Semetko der sich anlässlich der Feiern zum 100jährigen Leica Kamerajubiläum in Deutschland aufhält wurde durch seine Nichte begleitet, die bereits von den fotografischen Ambitionen ihres Onkels „infiziert“ wurde. Bei einem kühlen Getränk und Brezeln konnten die Gäste der Matinee mit dem Streetphotographen plaudern und sich Bücher von Craig signieren lassen.
Die Leica Galerie Stuttgart hat Montags bis Freitags von 10 Uhr bis 18.30 Uhr geöffnet. Am Samstag von 10 Uhr bis 18 Uhr. Unsere Räumlichkeiten im Untergeschoss des Stores sind gekühlt, der Eintritt ist frei.

This is what two new lungs look like three weeks in. Friends--it's been a while. I haven't talked about it much, but I was diagnosed a couple years ago with pulmonary lung fibrosis, a degenerative disease that doesn't end well. The disease progressed until I was placed on the lung transplant list in June. Once you're on the list, you could receive a call at any time day or night to get to the hospital, as no one knows when donor lungs will appear. I received "The Call" twice from the hospital that a donor lung had arrived and I was to get to there as soon as possible. Both times I got there quickly, waited many hours (days, on the first occasion) and both times was told the lungs were rejected after visual inspection. I was released to go home and wait for the next call, hoping for a better outcome. My condition continued to worsen to the point that I could barely walk from my bed to the bathroom with full oxygen support. It was at that point I called UCLA hospital. They admitted me asap and my condition was reassessed. I was much sicker than my second false alarm just a couple months earlier. They immediately moved me far up on the transplant list. Five days later--on Monday December 4th--two healthy donor lungs appeared. I went into surgery with two badly diseased lungs and emerged with two magnificent new lungs. Tomorrow will mark four weeks with these new gifts. I have been out of the hospital for two and a half weeks. The doctors are amazed at my recovery and the capacity of my new lungs. They honestly feel better than my original lungs of 20 years ago. I am under no illusions--there will be challenges ahead and many procedures--but I am determined to honor the donor and myself by being the best patient I can be. Above all, I am eternally grateful to the donor and his/her family, and to the incredible transplant team at UCLA, where I continue to receive outstanding care. And to my many friends here whose love and support was and remains enormously helpful. I have received the greatest Christmas gift I could imagine.
