The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released interim implementation guidance for Title III of the EXPLORE Act, marking one of the most significant updates to the federal Special Recreation Permit (SRP) system in decades. The Off-Road Business Association (ORBA) and Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) supported EXPLORE Act became federal law in January 2025 and will shape future recreation permitting across BLM-managed public lands. just now catching up to posting from my trip to Washington DC for the @semashow @myprishow Rally. Truly honored to be amongst my peers advocating for issues needing attention from Congress that directly impact the automotive industry. We lobbied on Capitol Hill meeting with Congress staff - I met with staff from my home state of Michigan, and even took part in meetings with Florida and Indiana; @chrisjacobs70 and I hosted the rally opening dinner with some extremely insightful and experienced guests both at The Cabinet and House levels; I experienced the inner workings of our legislation for the first time; And got to hang with car friends and even made some new ones. SEMA & PRI lobby on a number of issues affecting the automotive industry at the federal level. One of the bills I focused heavily on in meetings is tax certainty for race tracks. As someone who spends a lot of time at the track both covering racing for tv and riding/driving myself, especially the grassroots tracks, advocating for these facilities to sustain and thrive is important to me. Meeting with Congress staff allowed us the opportunity to not only represent the industry, but share our personal stories and impact these legislative decisions have. I learned SO MUCH during this trip and I encourage you to learn more about @semaaction and how they’re supporting our industry. The industry support is non-partisan and most of these bills are backed by both parties equally.
