Last month, CLiP participants explored collective survival in times of crisis. Through creative exercises, movement, and games, they reflected on what to hold on to, what to leave behind, and how communities can emerge.
🎤 Public Lecture with Selçuk Balamir
Designer-researcher Selçuk Balamir reflected on 15 years of climate activism, housing projects, and creative practice. Drawing from Collapse Camp Germany and COP30 in Belém, he introduced collapsolidarity: the art of letting go while coming together 🤝.

CLiP (Collective Learning in Practice) is an educational programme by Kunstinstituut Melly, curated by The Garage School.
Oct–Dec 2025: participants focused on tools for imagining and practicing collective survival 🛠️
Jan–Mar 2026: participants are developing their own initiatives, exploring emerging themes, and inviting guests
Participants also create monthly “letters to the future(s) we are preparing (for)” ✉️, in text, video, song, collage, performance, or poem. The final outcomes will be co-decided by participants and organizers: a radio show, exhibition, public LARP, and/or publication.

A final selfie-dump to express gratitude for this exceptional year. My wish for 2026: to find someone special to share the joys of this blessed life with, and to shelter together against unfolding collapse. I hope you’re out there — and I’m looking forward to spending time with you.

Some other special developments this year:
(a) I started a new cohabitation/situationship with Dido, the black Greek cat I co-parent with @martinedoppen ;
(b) my dearest friends @cemrekutluay and @laraaysal moved to Amsterdam with their adorable daughter Luna;
(c) we celebrated the 10-year anniversary of @nieuwland.cc ;
(d) I had a beautiful 40th birthday / homecoming party; and
(e) we celebrated our first New Year at @nieuwemeent !
2025 throwback, part 7
After COP30, I had an extra week of decompression in Pará. A chance encounter led me to my ayahuasca initiation, in the caring hands of madinha Teresa at the magical @chao_de_tupinamba in Colares, thanks to @rudaquino . It was the perfect ending to this journey.
2025 throwback, part 6
Enabled by @artivistnet and @ceccodecomo , the @bookblocbrigade was the best excuse to spend two weeks in Belém for COP30. Fifteen years after my first climate summit in Copenhagen, it was humbling to contribute again with a creative tactic.

What made this Brazilian adventure possible was the @globalartivism convening in Salvador, where we built a new @bookblocbrigade edition (more on this later). I also made a detour to Brasília for an Oscar Niemeyer pilgrimage!
2025 throwback, part 4
Plot twist: I went to Brazil for six weeks, my first time in South America! First, I had a well-deserved break in and around São Paulo and Rio with @philip.blocq , the best travel buddy ever. To many more beaches, hikes, and caipirinhas together!
2025 throwback, part 3
Another achievement this year was organising the Energy Literacy for Just Transition summer school with my colleagues @jmdiamanti and Colin Sterling, in collaboration with @helsxturner and Pablo Wendel at @ewerk_luckenwalde . I learned a lot and gained clarity about what to do next around just transitions, energy communities and collapse solidarities.
2025 throwback, part 2
Moving houses was bittersweet, as it meant saying goodbye to Woehoe at @nieuwland.cc — my home, family, and community of the past ten years. I had the most loving farewell party, a very fun and smooth moving day, and many more celebrations with my new community. I’m very excited about my next decade!
2025 throwback, part 1
The most exciting (and time-consuming) experience of the year: moving to de Nieuwe Meent! We received the keys on April 1st, finished building in July, and decorating by October. It took us seven years, and I’m very proud of what we achieved. All credit and glory go to @timetoaccess and @nieuwemeent for turning my dreams into reality!

BookBloc stood with titles by Ailton Krenak, Davi Kopenawa, Antônio Bispo dos Santos, and Hanna Limulja. Demonstrators lifted the shields and led the brigade — a profoundly humbling recognition of this collective work.
