Telling deep stories without words.
This piece, "From the River to the Sea" from our Terra Nullius LP began as a quiet instrumental on the record. An interlude reflecting displacement, movement and what is carried when land is taken. In our development of the new show, our dancers expanded it into something much larger.
Once they got a hold of the song, their bodies held the tension so deeply we had to extend the piece to twice the length to carry the weight they were carrying with their movement. Its now become this much more in depth living sequence of sound and motion. This is how Terra Nullius moves from sound into story.

This is not just another concert for us.
This is our new album reimagined through contemporary / traditional dance, as we perform live alongside First Nations voices. We are excited to be collaborating with Boss Arts and featuring a support lineup of all first-nations music. Working with choregrapher Sarah Francis and here featuring Jack Collard and Hunter Ewen - bodies carry history, resistance and connection to Country in a one-night performance built to be living breahting experience that fills the entire hall of The Rechabite.

Embodiment. Reflecting on the power of those individual bodies that carried our music. Sarah’s vision and choreography gave Terra Nullius: Embodied its physical language. Hunter, Jack and Rickeeta brought that language to life with strength, vulnerability and precision. What they gave on the stage and in the audience was generous and fearless. Sweet little moment at the end of the Terra Nullius Emobided show last week when Della Rae got up on stage to speak, it was really moving to work on this project with such incredible humans - collaborating with her and the whole Boss Arts Creative team on Terra Nullius: Embodied was a genuine privilege. These guys do amazing work with young artists and they're absolutely about to blow up right now. Thanks to them we were able to bring our dream of a dance collab to life. Della, Charlie, Sam and everyone else from boss - you're doing such amazing work!
I'm greatful lfor the chance to collaborate and for the relationships that continue beyond the stage, im sure we will work together on more epic projects like this!

Friday night was something special. To everyone who filled the room, who listened deeply, who allowed the work to move through them everyone on the team thank you. The energy in The Rechabite was undeniable. You could feel it in the silence, in the applause, in the conversations afterwards. We were so moved to see many of you affected by the performance. It took a lot of work to bring that together and we appreciate your reception of ‘Terra Nullius Embodied’ - it became what it was because of everyone in that room.
We felt the weight of the stories of country land deeply, and that is all we ever hoped for.
The Boss Arts Creative Showcase was extraordinary. The strength, confidence and excellence of these young First Nations artists set the tone for the entire evening. We are so blown away by the talent on display and were so honoured to be joined by them on the night.

This is "To Continue" written by our drummer Sam Maher and featured on Terra Nullius, this piece has lived on the record - until now.
On Friday, we perform it live for the very first time. As you can see Sam rehearsing here - Its' not an easy thing to pull off live but for this show we thought it deserved to be performed. If you want to experience this piece the way it was meant to be felt, in a room, through live bodies and breath, then please join us tomorrow night!
