So I researched all of the bands on my stage last week and immediately added @lawrencetheband to my Spotify rotation. Literally love at first listen.
Directing cameras for them today at @bottlerocknapa was literally too much fun to be called work. We all were grooving in video village and my cam ops KILLED it as usual ‘cause I think they were grooving to these crazy cats too.

Ok story time.
For those who don’t know- our 1.5 year old daughter introduced us to a band called @mychemicalromance this year. We knew of them but weren’t fans, per se. (Sorry) Their video came on YouTube randomly after a @deathcabforcutie song and she immediately was entranced. She literally toddled up to the screen to touch @gerardway ’s face as he sang.
Since then we have been listening to them on repeat, especially since she now can easily say “NANANANA!!” For the MCR song called “Na Na Na” and she can shout “OK!” during “I’m Not Ok.” Oh and she sings along (as best she can) to “Blood.” (Mostly just says “bluh, bluh… BLUH!!!!” but the timing is right so I can only assume she’s saying blood)
I wish I could say I was one of those moms making this all up for clout or whatever but sadly, I am not. I don’t even post her face on socials cause I’m a weirdo. But here we are, dedicating our family Christmas card (and also her Halloween costume) to a band that up until this year…. we were not a fans of.
But believe you me, she already got tickets for the Dodger Stadium MCR tour date for her second birthday present.

The one great thing with preparing my Intro to Film class (tomorrow 10am, Encinitas California! Link in bio!! come!) is that I am deep in my archives, industry notes and putting together some film excerpts- like from Méliès, the OG film artist. And then finding my most “recent” directing/cinematographer reel, which must be updated- but still makes me happy to watch because 1) I love the music so much -Mura Masaaaa! and 2) I have loved working on every single one of these films :))
