We fought back and we won! Despite WA state being in a big budget crisis made worse by the federal government's cuts to Medicaid, caregivers are celebrating historic wins. In the 2026 WA State Legislative Session we stopped care from being cut to more than 6,000 long-term care clients, passed the Millionaires Tax, unanimously passed legislation to ensure equal pay and benefits for Agency Providers, and we helped pass the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights and Immigrant Worker Protection Act. Everything we won is proof that our voices are powerful – that even in a difficult year, we can make real progress right here in Washington State.
SEIU 775 caregivers and community members are at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma as families are being separated, detained, and incarcerated unjustly to send a message: You are not alone. On Mother’s Day and every day, we honor the families who cannot be together by fighting to #FreeThemAll.
On this Mother’s Day weekend, @seiu775 , @seiu6 , @seiu925 and @seiuhealthcare1199nw showed up and showed out for mothers detained inside of NWDC.

But inside Northwest Detention Center, mothers will wake up behind bars, separated from their families.
Join us to honor every mother held apart on Día de las Madres. Bring your presence. Bring your heart.

PACS Nursing Home workers’ solidarity has paid off! After months of tough bargaining, workers at PACS just ratified a new contract with higher wages and stronger protections. We did not settle for the low wages that PACS originally proposed. Instead, workers took action, marching on the boss, wearing our SEIU 775 purple, and voting unanimously to hold informational pickets. “The cost of living keeps going up. But the wage scale hasn’t kept up,” Angel C., a certified nursing assistant at PACS, said to NBC Now. “Winning fair pay helps us keep and recruit skilled staff and that benefits all of us — staff and residents alike.”
“We are caring for residents with high needs, often on a skeleton crew of staff,” Anadelia F. said to NBC Now. “Our work is essential, and we deserve to be treated that way.”
