Alva Kuuto is a band from Bangalore whose mission is simple - celebrate and promote the rich & ancient Tulu language through contemporary folk rock. This is special one for me because it's the first time someone reached out to ME to get on the podcast, instead of the other way around. That's always a great sign for a young podcaster on the rise! A message from their lovely manager Seema led to attending a show at the Raft, where I was BLOWN AWAY by the songwriting, performance and tightness of Praveen Alva and his compatriots. Indeed, it felt like I was seeing a seasoned band in action instead of one that started recently! From that moment, they were a lock for the pod. Meet the Gully team 🌟 Seema is a travel lover and foodie who’s hopelessly hooked onto mystery stories and thrillers. When she’s not devouring books or binge-watching shows, you’ll find her chatting away with plants, trees, bugs, and pretty much any animal (she swears it’s normal!). She’s a fan of all things old and simple, from red oxide floors, tiled roofs to grandma’s sarees. With a master’s in biotechnology, Seema now leads leadership programs at a well-known Clinical Research Organization but stays endlessly curious about India’s rich culture, art, and stories. What drives her? Finding stories everywhere - whether traveling, painting, trekking, or just sipping coffee in Malleswaram’s tree-lined streets.
