Thanks so much Nicole!
Ink and some watercolour
Very fun experimental collaboration yesterday with @caitd_griffin the current dancer in residence at the @torontoheliconianclub
These are all sketches done while dancing or from 1-2 minute poses recreated from the dances. The dances were tied to costumes Caitlin brought in.
Slides 2-4 from Loon (created by her mentor) an amazing piece that played with the costume and all done to sounds of nature. These poses were held for a few minutes.
The second group slides 5-6 were painted as Caitlin moved slowly improvising dance in place with lots of hand gestures
The third group slides 5-7 was the last that we did with a giant tulle costume, the last was held for a few minutes
The last group of drawings was done from the first flowered dress dance that moved from contained body, lots of moves that felt like grooming and then moved to more unrestained dance. Some drawings done in dance, most recreated for 1-2 minutes, to capture the shapes she created.
Also a joyful opportunity to play with the randomness and playfullness of ink and water.
Sunday #scottishborderslifedrawingclub with Serafina @serafinasampu modwling from Barcelona -online debut! Thanks @derycks.art for hosting for this #onlinelifedrawingsession
Mostly ink and watercolour, mix of india ink and a dark indigo colour from octopus ink.
A couple of sketches from 2 life drawing sessions... the first 3 are of Maria at the Heliconian Monday in person life drawing session from April20, and then @jan_farn_chi modeling from Taiwan with #scottishborderslifedrawingclub in an online life drawing session.
I really like some of the inky ones.
Catching up on posting... these are from April27 with Brad @lifemodel_bs modeling at the Heliconian club
Amazing tense poses, held for a long time. The last few are 1-2 minute poses, i was trying outlines, then filing in with time.

🌿 New Exhibition at At Origin Coffee Gallery 🌿
April 26 – End of May
We’re delighted to present “BEING” by Tanya Murdoch — a thoughtful exhibition exploring connection, presence, and the quiet beauty of everyday life.
Through paintings drawn from life in the neighbourhood — people, trees, wasps, eggs, lemons and other familiar beings — Tanya invites us to reflect on shared existence and belonging. “When we recognize the connections we share as human (and non-human) beings, we make our world safer for each other, more interesting, and our existence richer.”
A painter, storyteller, and multimedia artist, Tanya brings a deeply observant and compassionate lens to her work, celebrating the poetry of ordinary moments.
Join us for coffee, conversation, and art throughout the month and experience BEING at At Origin Coffee Gallery.
