@seedtrace_org and Espressolab collaboration, you can transparently trace the journey of the coffee beans we source. Through this interactive map, you can explore in detail which country, region, and farm your coffee comes from, as well as the producer who cultivated it. This allows you to discover the origin of your coffee and see how it contributes to sustainable and ethical production practices. Through this transparency, we value the efforts of every producer in our supply chain and support the empowerment of producer communities by acting in line with fair trade principles.

✍️ 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 🌱 2024 has been a year of growth, collaboration, and milestones for Seedtrace. We treasured the opportunities to exchange ideas at panels, webinars, and trade fairs, with a highlight being our moment on stage at the Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit. A major milestone this year was our client Midsona’s launch of a transparent line of nut butters—highly complex products for which we implemented supply chain transparency at an unprecedented scale. We were able to realise this, including batch traceability for the main ingredients, within only half a year after signing a transparency agreement with the strategic suppliers at BIOFACH and look forward to more products to follow in 2025. Our key takeaway, though an enduring truth, remains unchanged: collaboration along the chain is always the most important success factor. Deep transparency and large-scale positive impact are goals we can only achieve together. This is why we have launched a new format for joint learning and exchange: „𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆“. Following a successful kick-off session with Tradin Organic, MartinBauer and Henry Lamotte Oils on the business value of supply chain transparency, we will continue to discuss the balance of transparency and sustainability between short-term projects and long-term strategy with forward-thinking experts from the food and beverage industry. See you in 2025! Ana and Katharina #2024 #Reflection #EndOfTheYear #SupplyChainTransparency #FromSeedToShelf #FromHumanToHuman

🌍 On the ground in Cameroon: Capturing first-mile data for traceable and deforestation-free cocoa supply chains Our Partnerships Manager, Nina, was currently in Cameroon, invited by our partner @cooko_tech to engage in a pioneering project. Right at the Cameroon border region of the Congo Basin, COOKO is exploring new sourcing locations, tracing farms, and mapping them via polygons to build scalable, traceability-ready cocoa supply chains starting at the first mile. Thanks to COOKO, this trip offers us a unique opportunity to gain valuable first-hand insights into the realities of implementing traceability at origin. Key observations from our initial conversations on the ground include: ➡️ Lack of awareness: Many farmers had never heard of certifications, price premiums, or deforestation monitoring. ➡️ Missing communication: Several buyers had already visited the region to map plots, but did not explain the purpose of the mapping, and failed to share the collected data with the farmers afterward. ➡️ Resulting disconnect: This lack of transparency leaves local communities uninformed and excluded from systems that are meant to support and empower them. In this context, they began mapping plots for the freshly sourced cocoa samples in the region. What was intended as a “quick farm visit” quickly turned into a 60-minute trek through dense bush with a machete – a valuable reality check of the physical and logistical challenges farmers face daily. Importantly, the polygon data was handed over to the farmer immediately – a simple yet impactful step to prevent redundant efforts and foster trust. Stay tuned for more learnings and insights about first-mile data collection and polygon mapping from the field soon! #CocoaSupplyChains #Cameroon #COOKO #SustainableSourcing #SupplyChainTraceability

🌎🛰️🕵️‍♀️ 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚: 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐔𝐃𝐑 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧-𝐭𝐡𝐞-𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬   To gain firsthand insight into the day-to-day challenges faced by coffee producers—and to explore practical steps suppliers can take to meet EUDR requirements—our Partnerships Manager, Nina, recently travelled to Colombia and visited the coffee farms of our partner, Cumbres. From flying drones over plantations and navigating rugged terrain in Jeeps to sharing early-morning cups of coffee with the field test team, the trip went far beyond regulatory checklists. It was about fostering mutual understanding and building solutions that work in practice. 💡 Do you want to gain insights into our key takeaways from the on-site assessments in Colombia? Then, make sure to read our latest blog article, where we take you along on the field trip, outline what European buyers need to know to better support suppliers in reducing compliance risks, and highlight practical steps suppliers can take to effectively meet EUDR requirements. 🌍🇷🇼 𝐑𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐄𝐔𝐃𝐑 𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 – 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 2: 𝐆𝐞𝐨-𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 What may seem like a straightforward task from behind a screen—like collecting geo-data for EUDR compliance—quickly reveals its complexity in the field. On the ground, data collection involves significant human effort, logistical obstacles, and infrastructural limitations that are often invisible to buyers further down the supply chain. Here are some of the key challenges we observed while visiting coffee producers, engaging with agronomists, and speaking with cooperative leaders in Rwanda: ❗️Data collection requires time and physical effort In many coffee-growing regions, smallholder farms can be scattered across remote, mountainous terrain with limited infrastructure. For agronomists, mapping these farms is a challenging and time-consuming task, and collecting accurate geo-data can require months of manual effort. ❗️Infrastructure limitations create barriers Unstable internet and limited mobile data access in rural areas can make it challenging for geo-data collection applications that require mobile data. Without reliable offline functionality, collecting and uploading data remains a constant struggle. ❗️Support structures are often missing Many producers lack both the technical knowledge and the essential tools, such as GPS devices, needed for accurate geo-data collection. Without adequate training and support systems, mistakes are common and can be costly. 💡These insights highlight the importance of designing EUDR solutions that are not only compliant but also grounded in the realities and needs of farmers at origin. In the next part, we will explore how EU buyers can contribute to building systems that are inclusive, fair, and supportive of effective compliance. #EUDR #Coffee #Sustainability #SupplyChain #Transparency #Collaboration

Team Offsite in Brandenburg 🌿👏 Last week, we spent two inspiring days together at the beautiful nook Lakehouse in Brandenburg — a perfect mix of team connection, deep dives into our mission and values, strategic discussions, and moments to enjoy nature. The main focus of our offsite: Impact. Together, we explored what impact we have achieved so far — and what kind of impact we want to create moving forward. Here are a few reflections on the impact we have had — and are eager to keep driving: 🔹 Challenging industry standards by proving that traceability is feasible even in complex, multi-ingredient products. 🔹 Enabling companies to strengthen both upstream and downstream collaboration in their supply chains. 🔹 Pioneering clear and engaging ways to communicate complex supply chain information, empowering consumers to make informed buying decisions. 🔹 Understanding challenges and supporting producers and smallholder farmers at origin to ensure they are not excluded from global trade due to rising compliance demands. 🔹 Facilitating knowledge exchange by bringing together diverse industry players and sustainability leaders. These two days were a valuable reminder that it is truly the dedication and energy of the team that fuels everything we do at Seedtrace. 💚

🌍🇷🇼 𝐑𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐄𝐔𝐃𝐑 𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 – 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 1: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 To gain deeper insights into the on-the-ground challenges of EUDR compliance, our Partnerships Manager, Finn, recently travelled to Rwanda, joining our client, Benecke Coffee, on a field trip co-hosted and organised by their supplier, Muraho Trading Company. Visiting the origin once again revealed just how complex and demanding EUDR compliance can be at every level. It goes far beyond data collection, involving human, logistical, and infrastructural challenges—aspects that are difficult to fully understand without firsthand experience of the local context. As a tech provider, this experience reinforced what we believe: 🔹 Strategy must be grounded in reality. 🔹 Functionalities must be efficient, scalable, and adapted to on-the-ground conditions. 🔹 Solutions must reflect the perspectives of all stakeholders—from producers to buyers—and foster a collaborative process where all actors along the supply chain benefit. 🔹 Meaningful impact is not achieved by simply ticking compliance boxes. Data collection and risk analysis need to be leveraged to strengthen collaboration and guide investment into the right developments on the ground. It also reminded us of something crucial: trust, respect, and partnership can not be digitised. They are built through presence, dialogue, and mutual understanding. Transparency is not a product feature but a value system. #EUDR #Coffee #Sustainability #SupplyChain #Transparency #Collaboration

🌱 #Biofach2025: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 🌾 It was amazing to be at @biofach.tradefair , immersing into the vibe of the organic market and engaging with industry leaders who deeply care about transparency and sustainability. The potential for real supply chain transformation is huge—but there’s still work to do! 🔍 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 Many companies believe that risk analyses, e.g. for supply chain laws, give them full supply chain visibility already. But real impact starts after the assessment—by actively managing high-risk products, raw materials, and regions before issues arise and sharing these insights with partners all along the #FoodSupplyChain. 🌍 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝—𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 The organic sector has strong direct supplier relationships, making it well-positioned for traceability. But many businesses aren’t digitising or leveraging their primary data effectively. Unlocking this potential could drive real competitive advantage. 🌳 𝐄𝐔𝐃𝐑: 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐞 Downstream buyers are demanding traceability and deforestation-free supply chains for commodities not yet covered by EUDR. Sugar is a potential next target but confirmation on whether it will be included in the next batch of commodities affected by EUDR is pending. The message is clear: transparency, traceability, and proactive management are no longer optional—they’re essential. And also how Beatriz Daim from @tradinorganic put it on the „Save Sustainability“ panel: 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳. Thanks for all of our valuable catch-ups, insightful conversations and new connections. Let’s shape the future of supply chain transparency together! #Biofach2025 #SupplyChainTransparency #FromSeedToShelf #FromHumanToHuman #EUDR #OrganicMarket #Seedtrace #Traceability

Did you know that 73-90% of cocoa farmers in Ghana and Ivory Coast do not earn a Living Income? Fortunately, there is people who care about fair compensation along supply chains and companies who produce cocoa responsibly. Kudos to our partner @koa.impact who has been working closely with cocoa farmers in Ghana for years to carry social and environmental change. 🌱 Our latest blog post discovers the dedication, hard work, and strong bonds among these farmers. Learn how our partnership with Koa is reshaping the cocoa industry, providing an additional income for the farmers, and ensuring transparent payments. Transparent payments provide a mechanism to ensure that the farmer really receives his wage and it connects the consumer directly to the farmer as he knows exactly where and from whom the cocoa comes. 📖 Join us in discovering the daily routines of Koa farmers and read the inspiring story on our website. ✨ #cocoafarming #responsibleproduction #transparency
