Happy Earth Day! 🌎🌱 Today we celebrate the beauty, resources, and wonder the Earth provides. At Seeds of Hope, combating food and nutrition insecurity means getting people food AND: 1. Zero Waste — preventing food from entering landfills through Free Farmers Markets and composting 🧑‍🌾 2. Horticultural Therapy — guiding people back to the earth, growing food and natives, composting, and healing 🫳🪏 3. Environmentally Conscious Eating — teaching where food comes from, how it’s grown, and its environmental impact 🫛 4. California Climate Action Corps Fellows — supporting and advancing zero waste and urban greening efforts in our community ♻️ 5. Bioremediation - using native plants and fungi to extract and sequester contaminants in gardens impacted by pollution, industrialization, and fire 🌻 As environmental stewards, Seeds of Hope celebrates Earth Day every day, but today, we also share our love and photos of our abundant gardens, beautiful produce, and the life they nurture :) #earthday #environmentalstewardship #foodjustice #zerowaste #seedsofhope

The IHC sends a very big THANK YOU to all who joined us for a new adventure this Environmental Month. From Allis Druffel, IHM, leading her presentation on the Climate Crisis and Action Forward, to Eric Newton and Seeds of Hope guiding our attendees on a garden tour of the Edendale Grove. We learned the impacts the climate crisis has had on the world, but no fear- there is still plenty of work to be done to help protect the only planet we live on. Missed out on the fun? You can watch Allis's entire presentation on our YouTube channel, and make sure you sign up for the next one. You don't want to miss it! Thank you again to @seedsofhope_la , @eyeofnewty , and St. Paul's Commons, Echo Park for an afternoon of learning, composting, and community building. (And of course, the free goodies from UWS and Zero Waste LA!)

Farm2People tagged along to a really cool food distro recently! Seeds of Hope hosted one of their free farmers markets in Altadena with local org Home of Kings and Queens, and we contributed vibrant, certified organic mixed produce boxes from farmer co-op Community Farmers! We are always grateful for a chance to collaborate and are inspired by the meaningful work each of these groups is doing 💚 ~ ¡Chequen estas escenas de una reciente distribución en donde participó Farm2People! 🌾☀️#freefooddistro #altadena #teamwork #foodaccess #organicproducebox

Come help out at a food distribution or garden with Seeds of Hope 🤜🤛 As the cost of food and transportation continues to rise, Seeds of Hope is here to support the community, but we need your support as well. Come volunteer with us this month and you too will get a week’s worth of food 🧺 👉 Sign up in the Volunteer Form in our linktr.ee in bio We understand not everyone has the time to volunteer during the work week. If you’re interested in helping in another way, and are able to, we are grateful to receive donations as well. 👉 Donate in the Donation form in our linktr.ee in bio #seedsofhope #foodjustice #losangeles #volunteer #giveback
