@sectacollective threw an open-air rave in a Jebel Ali warehouse last Saturday from 4pm until 4 am. We went to meet with the four founders during build week where they showed us around all three stages and talked about fostering a techno community in Dubai. This Saturday, we are doing one last dance in this space to close the winter season, taking over this beautiful raw room with a unique indoor / outdoor setup hosting amazing regional talents on all fronts across music, art, design, audio and of course all things community.
We start early, in the outdoors for sunset to ease ourselves into the night sharing food & drinks, special happy hour prices for with @community_________service playlist + many other things to keep you entertained all night.

THIS WEEK ART HUB → on site install Prints + Projections → a dedicated visual experimentation area where we delve deeper into the intersection of sound, art, and design.
This forth takeover is by @karimthedeaf — His selected work emerges from a dialogue between underground sound and calligraphic form, shaped by both sonic influence and historical reference. Drawing on glitch-like textures from Arabic and English underground rap, it feels unpredictable yet grounded in tradition.
Each piece begins with traditional Arabic calligraphy before being distorted and digitized, shifting it into a contemporary, image-saturated space where past and present remain in tension.In this sense, the work is anti-hauntological: neither fully traditional nor detached, but reconfiguring tradition through digital means.

For our twenty sixth episode of Secta Sessions we are hosting @hanaelucxs Born in Japan, her name means “blossoming”, a word that mirrors her journey into techno, a passion that opened up an entire new world. After spending time in Berlin and Amsterdam, where she found a true sense of belonging on the dance floor, she returns to Dubai with a drive to craft fast, energetic, and emotionally charged sets.

We are squeezing one more in before the summer hits, in this breezy open venue, to celebrate regional talents @zmaiili@dj.sudz@tarik.omar.music and our residents through this challenging period in time, on multiple areas with an extended indoor / outdoor takeover of Room 3.
As always expect nothing less than our signature production and set design, alongside our Art Hub takeover with @karimthedeaf and our merch stand with vinyl corner + tooth gems.
Excited to see you again in this fresh outdoor / indoor setting for 9 hours of togetherness and unity on the floor. We will start early at 6 PM with @community_________service lower priced tickets, promos and an extended communal chill area to welcome more people to sit down, and share food & drinks together. We are also creating a dedicated awareness team zone for anyone that needs some extra support.

We pushed for this to happen against all odds and it was yet another reminder of what community should feel like especially in this sensitive moment. Thanks to eveyone that came out and celebrated Secta, reminding us why we started in the first place 🩶

This third takeover is by @vodka_22oz — working through an intuitive, material-led practice, 𝓥𝓸𝓭𝓴𝓪 22𝓸𝔃
creates layered abstract compositions where organic forms emerge through accumulation, gesture, and material exploration.
𝓞𝓷𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓮 𝓨𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰 spans two large-format digital prints and a single-channel video. Memory is approached as unstable and reshaped by circulating images; fragmented photographs, textures, and drawn elements form compositions that mirror memory—partial, distorted, and reassembled.
Recollection shifts from lived experience to visual trace, shaped by repetition and accumulation. Branching forms connect the self to a wider image-world, as identity stretches between personal memory and collective influence. The works remain in tension, where memory, image, and self stay in flux.
