Our Cardprotector+ was recognised, and that means a lot to us.
Because this product started with a simple observation: the world changed. Cards became heavier. Smoother. Made of metal. And the original Cardprotector, the product that created an entirely new category in 2009, needed to evolve.
So we redesigned the mechanism from the ground up.

Hidden springs beneath a knurled base.
Finished in fluted, recycled aluminium.

A designer’s responsibility doesn’t end with form or function.

We are taught to recognise capability through speed, order, and sameness.
Anything that resists this rhythm is marked as insufficient.
But difference is not a failure of ability.
Systems are never neutral. They carry the bodies, the minds, and the values of those they were built to serve, and learn to disguise themselves as common sense.
To design with room for uneven rhythms, for divergent ways of thinking, for work that refuses neat measurement, is an act of responsibility.

For Alissa and Nienke of A+N Studio, this question sits at the core of their practice. In a world where we spend most of our time indoors, they explore how the built environment can do more than simply function: it can soothe, stimulate, and restore.
From tactile surfaces that invite touch to lighting that echoes natural rhythms, their work translates subtle sensory cues into spatial experiences. Inspired by nature’s quiet patterns they create atmospheres that bring movement, texture, and calm back into everyday environments.
