This week 5 of our girls headed to Bizkaikoloreak Nations Cup. Our team consisted of @annalloyd08 @aelwen.davies @mabliphillips @ma1a.howell and @graceward4300 (guest). The race consisted of 2 stages over some hilly terrain, making it even harder in the 40 degree Spanish heat. Our girls raced amazingly, with the help of @secrettrainingcc to keep them hydrated throughout the races. We are so proud of all of the girls👏🏻👏🏻 Mabli 27th Grace 32nd Aelwen 38th Maia 46th Anna 76th A massive thank you to all of our sponsors, including @vantagemotorgroup for helping the girls finish with mechanicals and @hjchelmets @apex_customclothing @oxprodcycle @secrettrainingcc @envgraphicsandsignageltd @jmadventureuk @hopetech Wernink @highadventure_outdoorcentre @shibdencyclingclub

Next Saturday sees the second No Nonsense Circuit Race day at Wyke (Bradford). We’ve got encouraging 3/4 Women and 3/4 Open fields (plenty of points on offer), but the 1/2/3 Open race is still in need of a few riders. Remember, with its long double loop lap and short cobbled climb, Wyke is one of the most engaging and enjoyable circuits to ride with lap times in the 2 to 3 minute bracket. We’ve also got a great pop-up cafe at track side plus superb changing/toilets/showers. Entries close Weds evening 9pm. For those of you who’ve been following our “local pig-farm aroma” narrative, the current Easterly winds are providing an invigorating, sinus-clearing experience at the venue - but this is set to change for the weekend, with gentle Westerlies likely to deprive us of this unique treat on race day. You win some, you lose some!

Testing Elsie’s new road bike arm in battle at race 1 of the No Nonsense circuit races, need to change the hood for easier transition from hoods to drops. But working very well.

I'm told by people who have an interest in youth racing that the Wyke circuit is hosting the National Youth Circuit series in July. Apparently the National will be using the same circuit configuration as our No Nonsense races. I know that, for most youths, pre-event planning begins no earlier than the morning of the event. But for any switched-on parents, our races in March and May are an ideal opportunity for your offspring to familiarise themselves with the circuit. Of course, that pre-supposes that the aforementioned offspring will remember what they have learnt for more than a nanosecond. Which is unlikely. Still, I've been told that the above narrative contains a compelling marketing angle and will drive up entries for our races. So there you have it! Whatever your motivation for being there, you are at least guaranteed a warm welcome at all the No Nonsense races - we look forward to seeing you there!

Entries are now open for these four events. Great circuit, with cobbly, bobbly section. Friendliest race crew anywhere. Coffee and cake stand. Excellent changing, showering facilities. Invigorating smell from the local pig farm if there’s an Easterly blowing. These races have got the lot!

Why Electrolytes Matter When Training in the Cold ❄️💪 Training in colder weather can trick you into thinking hydration isn’t as important as in the heat. But don’t be fooled – your body still loses electrolytes through sweat, even in the chill. Here’s why they matter: 1️⃣ Energy Boost: Electrolytes help keep your energy levels steady, preventing early fatigue. 2️⃣ Muscle Performance: They support proper muscle function and prevent cramps, even when it’s cold outside. 3️⃣ Hydration Balance: Cold air can dehydrate you faster than you think – electrolytes ensure you stay properly hydrated. 4️⃣ Recovery: Replenishing electrolytes post-workout helps you bounce back stronger and faster. So, whether you’re smashing a big ride or running outdoors, don’t skip your electrolytes. Stay fueled, stay strong, and keep moving! #Electrolytes #WinterTraining #HIITLife #HydrationTips #secrettraining
