I have three daughters, 6 year old twins and an 8 year old. I don’t post photos of them on my art account normally, but I loved this one that was taken at their school fundraiser. I’m one lucky lady to have this family! Happy Mother’s Day!

Mountain herbalists and wise women need to find alternative ways to connect with plants, since well, our growing season is too limited. This is why I’ve gotten so good at making delicious herbal tea and now, am working with essential oils. Wishing you a bright spring day from the Rockies!
New painting! “Perfumers Spell” features a civet formulating shades of experience through the art of natural perfumery. I have not been able to stop writing about perfume making, it has been wave after wave of cherished inspiration. Obv I’m obsessed! I am finding so many correspondences with this art form and the art of watercolor, and the surreal whimsical world that my creatures live in. So. Fun.

I really needed to relax after working on art stuff so I let the essences calm and ground me, as I’ve been pretty anxious all day. I made a blend that was so refreshing, it was just what I needed, even if it still needs more refinement. I’m grateful for this art form, it feels really healthy and deeply magical.

This design was inspired by this time of year in the Rockies. Shimmering snow on green grass, beautiful clear blue skies. Elk, clover, rivers and lakes, and a massive majestic mountain. I couldn’t help myself I had to give it a face! 😂

I just love drawing on paper, I have so much control of this little world. This rabbit is familiar with posing amongst jasmine flowers, and has also appeared on my bookmarks surrounded by the intoxicating aromas of the flowering vines.
It feels great to work freely and loosely with traditional materials. I love creating like this, no expectations just playing around. It’s been about 3 months since I painted in watercolor, so I like to do some warm ups before I get on to the next oracle piece. Stay tuned for another creature coming through the ether!
To Step into the world of perfume is to enter a dimension of indescribable quality. We use poetry to explain what is happening when essences combine, but the truth is science still has very little answers. I have been studying natural artisanal perfume making since this past winter solstice and it’s really surprised me how much it saturates my thoughts. I am nothing short of dealing with complete obsession and it’s been a great addition to my life. I am entering classes taught by Mandy Aftel @aftelierperfume a legendary perfumer, author and teacher of the craft. I’m tickled pink to have this opportunity, I’m so grateful and excited to learn. It’s been really challenging to blend an original perfume that I really like. The more you learn the more critical you become and although working with the essences is pure bliss, the final products are just so so. This is a normal process of learning the art, as it takes a lifetime to reach the point of mastery. My first love, drawing and painting are still exercises I challenge myself with regularly and they will always be a part of my creative life. Working with plants continues to inspire many of my conceptual pieces and you’ll be seeing more perfume related characters coming through the ether as I go on this journey.
