I realised recently that lots of newer followers probably know us for one particular thing, whether that’s the caps, the Dream Coats, the knitwear or the reworked pieces, but maybe don’t actually know the wider story behind Second Stories.
So I thought I’d share a little more about how the brand began and what sits behind it all.
What still surprises people sometimes is that despite the collections, launches and shoots, Second Stories is actually still a very small operation. Day to day, it’s mostly just me and our lovely new studio assistant doing everything from packing orders and answering emails to sourcing fabrics, building collections and shooting content.
Thank you so much for supporting what we do. Truly. Whether you’ve been here since the vintage days or you’ve only just found us recently, it means more than you probably realise.

POV: you realise your entire outfit is your own brand again.
The cardigan? Scottish lambswool.
The lace tied round the waist? Deadstock vintage lace.
The tote? Ours.
The leather bag? Also ours.
Honestly didn’t plan this.
Just turns out I keep making the pieces I actually want to wear on repeat.

Designed with a soft bloomer-inspired shape, but balanced with an easy longer length so they still feel wearable and grown-up. Finished with delicate broderie anglaise trim, pockets (obviously), and a super comfortable adjustable waistband.
No two pairs are the same. Front and back panels will vary across every piece and your pair will be hand-selected from the collection for you.

Our mystery totes are officially live…
As a studio built around small runs, one-offs and limited production, we often find ourselves with beautiful leftover pieces:
end-of-run accessories, samples, one-off jewellery, studio favourites and pieces that simply never quite made it online.
So rather than letting them sit in boxes, we thought it would be fun to create a very limited run of Second Stories mystery totes.
Each mystery tote includes:
• one of our vintage lace tote bags (yes we have made more and you get a random gorgeous bag in every box rrp £48)
• either socks or one of our bestselling embroidered caps
• a jewellery piece
Total retail value worth up to £140+, from £55.
The cap version is £65 due to the higher product value.
Everything is selected at random, which honestly makes packing these feel a bit like doing gifts for people.
We haven’t actually spoken about these publicly until now and they’ve already quietly started selling through via our email subscribers, so this is your sign to join the mailing list if you like first access to the good stuff.
