Community Supported Agriculture. We grow vegetables and harvest them weekly for you all. You all eat delicious food produced right in your neighborhood! This is truly the freshest produce you will find. And, it gives us all a chance to run into a neighbor, share recipe ideas and communally appreciate the delights of eating well all season long. We set up a farm stand-style pick up of the week’s harvest in our wash/pack barn. You come with your own bag and grab each item of the week’s share. For example an early season pick up may include: a bunch of carrots, cucumbers, you choose a bunched green: kale or swiss chard, a pint of snap peas, a head of lettuce, a bunch of radishes, a bunched herb: you choose parsley or dill, and a bunch of scallions. And, yes, if you have a hankering for our kraut, that will be available too! Where? Right at the farm. 554 Dickey Hill Rd, Monroe. Our farm is right in the heart of “Swanroe” also known at the Swanville/ Monroe town line off Route 131. When? Wednesdays 4-7pm, June 10- November 18 24 week period, 22 pick ups (plus 2 weeks off of your choosing) How much? $660 ($725 value for the season or an average of $33 per week), installation payments available $330 for EBT/ SNAP shoppers (average of $33/ week value, paid $15/ week installments) $100 Kraut Club - 10 jars of kraut throughout whenever you like throughout the season ($120 value) More info and sign ups at /csa

SUGAR SNAP PEA APPRECIATION POST: I love them. I love early high tunnel peas. I love watching them grow up trellising. I love finding the first flower and then patiently waiting for the peas to appear. I love watching my kids hunt for them in the pea forest and then sort their harvest on the porch couch. I love how excited customers get when they see the first peas of the season. Today was pea transplanting day for 2026. They are being watered in now. This afternoon we will hoop and cover them to try to keep them cozy for the rest of the winter. With any luck, we will be harvesting in early June.

Farm crew positions for 2026 are up on our website- please check them out and consider sharing them! We are looking for folks to work on the farm, in the kraut kitchen and at markets. 1-4 days per week available. Compensation ranges from $17- $20 depending on experience. Please see our website for detailed job descriptions and info on how to apply. Second Frost Farm is a small scale, high production, MOFGA certified organic vegetable operation and lacto-fermentory! The farm currently has just over one acre of land in vegetable production, including 4 unheated high tunnels and 2 seasonal caterpillar tunnels which allow us to produce nearly year round. We utilize low-till and majority human-powered farm practices as we work towards our vision of improving soil health, building climate resilience and nourishing our community- both on and off the farm! We sell the vast majority of our farm products at two local farmers’ markets where we work with other vendors and the Maine Federation of Farmers’ Market @mainefarmersmarkets to expand food access in the mid-coast.

If you love the @rocklandfarmersmarket but this view doesn’t look familiar to you, you’re missing out!! For three Thursdays each in November and December, the Rockland Market moves indoors to the Flanagan Rec Center on Limerock St in Rockland. This small but mighty extension of the summer market has everything you need for a cozy weeknight meal, or to complete your Thanksgiving table to perfection. This Thursday, November 20th, is your last chance to stock up for Thanksgiving - @froggysfarm maple in some scones for breakfast while you watch the parade, hot cider from @pressedforcider spiked with applejack to keep you warm, @pumpkinvinefamilyfarm cheeses and @hawthorn_and_thistle_farmstead chorizo on the charcuterie board you’ve been perfecting, @luna.moth.herbs pine shrub for your autumnal cocktail or mocktail, @brazenbaking bread and @woodhausfarm sausage stuffing, meatballs and mac and cheese as a side from Crooked Spoon, potatoes from @bucklefarm for your mash, salad greens from @secondfrostfarm to balance out the pie you’ll eat later, @redkettlekimchi magic kimchi dust to make your turkey from @greenmeadowfarmme pop - do I need to go on? We open at 9am, close at 11:30am, accept EBT and snap, and are SO looking forward to helping you check some items off your list.

1 in 8 Mainers, and 1 in 5 Maine kids, don’t have enough food to eat. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps improve food access with a bit of extra money for groceries. (SNAP used to be called Food Stamps.) The Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets (MFFM)’s Maine Harvest Bucks program DOUBLES shoppers’ SNAP funds at participating farmers’ markets! If you spend $10 in SNAP, you get $10 in bonus bucks to spend on fresh fruits, raw vegetables, and seedlings that produce food. This program is available @rocklandfarmersmarket @belfastfarmersmarket and farmers’ markets statewide. Please help us keep it strong in 2025 & beyond by donating to support the Maine Harvest Bucks program!!
