Another denim (khaki???) jacket flip! Both the jacket and the fabric were, of course, picked up second hand. I used a reverse appliqué technique and I’m so obsessed with how she turned out! So glad I was able to keep the fabric in used and prevent it from being tossed in the landfill #thriftflip #upcycle #upcycledfashion #slowfashion #thrifting

Yes, I keep my scraps and yes I have a lot. Every failed project and left over piece goes into a big bin. Using those scraps, I’m able to make some cool pieces, patches and appliqués. This keeps fabric out of the landfill and increases the duration of use for clothing that would otherwise be trashed! I found out that the stat “there’s enough clothing for the next 6 generations” is OLD. Years later with the rise of fast fashion, there’s no telling how many clothes exist on our planet. Let’s reuse what we have and make our future a little greener #earthdayeveryday #reducereuserecycle #thriftflip #upcycle #handmade

I started sewing almost a year ago, and beyond a fun, creative thing to do, I noticed a big change in a way of thinking that I’ve had since childhood. I’ve always had a harsh inner critic. It’s loud and unyielding. There’s been a fear of not being good enough within so many facets of my life, and that fear has had me stuck in patterns that don’t serve me. However, I noticed that my critic has quieted as I’ve sewed more. I’ve had the opportunity to experience a shift in thinking from “you can’t do this,” to, “try and see what happens.” This shift has allowed me to make mistakes, fix them when I can, and accept them when I can’t. This shift has been profound for me, and I’m actively trying to embrace it in other areas of my life too, even when it’s terrifying. #handmade #selflove #imperfection #slowfashion

I found this amazing blanket at the thrift store yesterday and couldn’t wait to make it into something new! I’m obsessed with how she turned out too! Any time I can reuse denim to keep it out of the landfill, I’m so happy. Add some cute cats to the mix and I’m estatic! Have I already sent a picture to nearly every cat owner I know? Yes, yes I have. #cats_of_instagram #upcycling #slowfashion #handmade #thriftstorefinds

Just a fast flip with a stained hoodie from the thrift and old quilted fabric saved from the landfill. The quilt fabric has a copyright from 2006 and is seriously so freaking cute #reducereuserecycle #slowfashion #handmade #upcycling #upcycledfashion

Too much denim ends up in landfills! This jacket from a fast fashion brand was given a little glow up to make her unique and ready for a little more love ❤️ by giving her and other clothes like her a second chance, we’re keeping used textiles out of the landfill and helps us work towards a greener future. Shop second hand and use what we have! #fyp #facts #reducereuserecycle #viral #denim

80% of all denim made is incinerated or sent to landfills. 4 billion pieces of denim clothing are made per year. That’s 23.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide created from production. Incinerating the jeans creates 1.2 BILLION TONNES of greenhouse gases YEARLY. Instead of buying new, let’s focus on what we have.
