Nothing but Gratitude, Joy, and Admiration tonight for this wonderful Woman, Artist, Educator.
I was a loud, flamboyant little 5th Grader who jumped at the chance to put all that energy to use when the High School was looking for kids from our class to be Munchkins in their production of the Wizard of Oz. From that day through my High School Graduation, Mrs. Hygom taught me the passion, discipline, fun, and taste that made me into the Actor and Theatre Lover I am today. From Oz to Fleet Street to Yonkers, she showed me what was possible for me to bring to the stage, and what it could give me in return.
Iām immensely grateful to have gotten to celebrate her tonight, along with several other members of the Varsity Theatre Squad, at her final show as Director at Shoreham-Wading River. Iām only one of many, many students who move through the world so much more meaningfully and appreciatively thanks to her.
