The internet seemingly cannot get enough of the Cousins’ crew from #TSITP. Sean Kaufman, who plays main character Belly’s older brother Steven in the series, is one of several younger actors to call the show their breakout role.
Kaufman admits he wasn’t sure what to expect at the end of his character’s journey: “Jenny [Han’s] a trickster, and she loves making surprises and writing stuff in that nobody expects.”

@sean.kauf ’s breakout role is as Steven Conklin in Prime Video’s #TheSummerITurnedPretty, based on Jenny Han’s novel trilogy. With the third and final season wrapping up this month, Kaufman is looking ahead. He’s been cast in season 5 of ‘For All Mankind’ and ‘Other Mommy,’ the supernatural horror flick starring @jessicachastain . If #TSITP’s feverish social fan base proves anything, it’s that Kaufman’s just scratching the surface of celebrity.

@sean.kauf is still at the beach - not Cousins - but the metaphorical beach that teaches him how to go with the flow.
“One of the things I’ve learned to live with is that my life when I’m not working is kind of like a beach. The waves just pull in and out at all times, and I learn to go with the flow. Sometimes that is uncomfortable. Just because it’s not alright now doesn’t mean that the world’s going to end.”
We would like to be invited to Sean’s metaphorical beach, and then we can all stay there and pretend The Summer I Turned Pretty isn’t ending. The third and final season is streaming weekly on Prime Video.
