Putting my new machine through its paces and impressed with its capabilities. Working with a client to develop boutique brand eyewear hardware. The holes are M1.2 x 0.25, tapped direct on the machine using the rigid tapping that is standard on the Syil. Just blown away by what the X7 can do.

My latest piece 'Alisterus' which I made for the new Robert Foster F!NK national metal prize, supported by the Tall Foundation and F!NK + Co-Director Gretel Harrison.
It was wonderful to be selected in the ten finalist to present works for the prizes.
I certainly challenged myself with this new piece, to complete the concept I had to take a mostly finished work and then proceed to allow a CNC milling machine to carve into the surface. There was no backing out once the process started. It was nerve racking but no risk, no progression.
I have just opened the door on what this process can achieve and I can't wait to push the envelope...

A friend was cleaning out their workshop and found a bunch of tools that they where given. Having not used them or likely to ever, they called and offered them to me.
Happy to add them to the collection, and the old boxes are classics.
The micro-set adjustable reamers fill in nicely then ones I had acquired from my father who got them from his father. Now to get my daughter on the tools so I can hand them on to her.
Guess making is in the blood.

Eggs of a different type that I fabricated for a research project taking place at the University of Melbourne.
These copper eggs are used to house a data logger to measure temps in nests of magpie's.
Measurements are 28mm long and 21mm in diameter and made with 0.7mm sheet stock.
The small cap that can be opened up to allow for the logger to be retrieved was a interesting problem to solve.
Fun and challenging job, always nice to use the skills to help others with their work and contribute to important research.

Nice to get down to Perisher to have a day boarding, Jazz had a few days with a friend then I came for the last day. Her first time and she wants more.
Was a long time since I have strapped into a board, turns out I still have it. Although a few muscles might have been taking it easy over the past 20, I know they're there now.
Looking forward to Jazz getting comfortable enough to come ride with me, then making me keep up!

Nice to get away camping, negative temps overnight sure made it different. Had a nice time at wombeyen caves, the area was hit with fires then flood.
Hope to make it back once it's more recovered.
Nice to be away with the family, so much debris from the recent floods.
Also a little local gumtree action. Some 4140, Ali, 3 jaw chuck for the rotary table and a quick indexer that takes the chuck and 5C collets. Each pull gets 15 degrees.
