It is so senseless to me that you wouldn’t be here with us all right now Greg. Such a brilliant friend. And just so fun to hang out with. With a depth of understanding that was unmatched and a to-the-core chillness that just put everyone at ease.
I can go back there so easily, to sitting on the floor of your studio, frankensteining stuffed animals together for that parade float. Your misfit houseplants set up in the exact patch of sunlight on the floor. You taught me what your mother taught you, that if I cut the withering leaves off that the plant would bounce back.
I had been looking forward to reconnecting with you as adult people in our thirties, trying to carve meaning out of the day-to-day hustle. I wanted to read tarot together in August. I just have so much admiration for you. So brilliant and driven and so fucking talented. I love you. Incredibly gracious friend. Rest in peace Greg Bae. Thank you for everything. #gregorybae @jameelahlang@frazier141@estebandelvalle112@zoecrumbs@jonascriscoe@alixartsc@stephenjohnlong
Turning to the tarot to find clarity at this time.
A card pulled for the day.
Death XIII
The Death card is to be welcomed because it demands transformation and release of old ways of being that no longer serve us. This is a collective reckoning with a stagnation of justice across lifetimes, of a compounding of inequity and suffering. Metamorphosis. Here is the call to dismantle racist structures, internal and external, to liberate, and to be active in antiracist practices. There is gratitude and beauty in this moment. There is exaltation.
