English Asparagus Season Is Coming! It’s our favourite time of the year! And thanks to the warm winter there is some super early asparagus sneaking out already. But it’s the 23rd April — St George's Day — marks the official start of English asparagus season. A mere eight weeks of the good stuff, running right through to the Summer Solstice on 21st June. Blink and you’ll miss it! Not surprising when each spear can grow 10cm in a single day and still needs to be hand-picked. We’re hosting An Asparagus Dinner in early May - the perfect time to enjoy this most seasonal of treats. We are incredibly lucky in Thanet to have Sevenscore Asparagus on our doorstep — one of the finest producers in the country. Sevenscore got the royal seal of approval when they supplied asparagus to William & Kate's wedding. To celebrate Spring , we're hosting An Asparagus Dinner — five courses, with each course showcasing a different way to prepare and eat asparagus. A love letter to eight weeks of the year when our local produce is genuinely world-class. Thursday 7th May | 7pm | £55 Includes a welcome cocktail. CATCH x SEABIRD returns to the harbour - Fri 22 May at @gather_ramsgate 🐟 Our seafood supper club is back for a late-spring edition, landing at Gather& Ramsgate for another evening of coastal flavours, good wine and easy listening. Tickets on sale now via the link in bio and on the Seabird website 🎟️ This time, we’re keeping things simple and sharp with a four-course menu that leans into Iberian touches and seasonal produce. Expect gordal olives to start, anchovy and goat’s curd toast, and a standout main of spiced whole mackerel with potato boulangère & asparagus - finished with a Tarta de Santiago to close. It’s all about relaxed dining, shared tables and a room that moves at its own pace. The bar will be pouring crisp wines, cold beers and a few well-chosen cocktails to match, while records play throughout the evening. Same energy as before - just a new menu, a fresh season, and a spot by the harbour. Limited seats as always. £40pp — 4 courses

OPEN SEABIRD UNTIL 10PM & 11PM CROWDFUNDER /p/help-seabird-fly Seabird is a great little food and drinks business in Ramsgate. We opened in summer 2023 and have been serving residents and visitors to the town with great cocktails, seasonal bar snacks and small plates, fab wines, great coffee and super music on our Hi-Fi sound system. We've been trying to extend Seabird's opening hours until 10pm on weekdays and until 11pm on weekends. Firstly by extending our planning and then by varying our drinks licence. Despite being surrounded by other venues in equally residential locations with significantly later licences (The Bedford / Queen Charlotte / Artillery Arms), we've found this incredibly hard (and expensive) to achieve. We have finally WON our planning appeal, but the battle to vary the licence is next. We're raising money to cover the legal costs of the planning and licensing process. At a time when regeneration is a big focus for Ramsgate, it shouldn't be this hard for small independent businesses to operate so reasonably. Like everyone else in Ramsgate (and possibly the country!) we're cheering on hometown hero Sam Battle @lookmumnocomputer in tonight's Eurovision Song Contest. We sadly won't be showing the final tonight - with our ongoing licensing application we don't want to do anything which risks jeopardising that. So we'll be down in the Harbour watching on the big screens as soon as we close! But we are OPEN from midday until 10pm, so please pop in for a drink and chat. Let us know who else (apart from Sam) is looking good? It's all about the Scandinavians for me this year - Norway were IMMENSE in Tuesday's semi-final and Finland are the bookies favourite! One more thought - if Sam wins, does that mean RAMSGATE gets to host the final next year??? Can you imagine!!! EINS ZWEI DREI!!!
