I’m a little late but better late than never. Annabelle’s first day of school was early August. She’s in 10th grade. Maverick started his Sr. year last week Tuesday.
Simon and I back to school shopping with Annabelle (at Abercrombie kids).
This was our awkward exchange.
Cashier to Annabelle: What grade are you going to be in this year? 3rd grade? 4th grade?
Annabelle: Dead silent *turns beat read*
Me: She starts tenth grade. She’ll be 16 next month.
Cashier: Shocked into silence. Then comments Annabelle on her “extremely young genes” and how she will look young forever.
As we are walking out of the store Annabelle turns angrily at the both of us as we are failing to hold back our laughter and says, “don’t you dare say a word!!!!”
For those of you that haven’t seen Annabelle in awhile; photo for reference.
Happy 17th birthday, @mavdyer I could list every good generic personality trait about you but I’m just going to keep it simple and say that you’re an incredible teenager. The world is better with you in it. And I truly wish for you to have the very best last year of childhood that you could ever hope for. One that’s full of quality friendship, laughter and most importantly countless positive experiences and memories.
First day of high school.
I’ll update a picture of the real Annabelle in about a week - guaranteed she won’t be smiling this early in the morning for very long 😆
For those of you who know Simon Abraszek and I well, our 2023 was complete crap. We faced some really hard situations and had to make even harder decisions. One of those being to postpone our wedding to an unknown (potentially far off) future date. Over the years we have learned to keep the past in the past and give eachother (and life) what we call “redo’s”. Simon took advantage of our redo philosophy last night and proposed in the most epic and surprising way possible. Here’s to continuing to move forward and recognizing that life isn’t always perfect.
Thank you Randi Clark Ever Afters by Randi and David Chino Chau for being witness to a core memory and catching it on video.
