Reaching for the stars is no longer just a dream for a group of ambitious students from the University of Southern Denmark.
The CHRONO-CAT team, part of The Als Rocketry Club, has received conditional approval to participate in the prestigious European REXUS/BEXUS programme. Their mission? To send a custom-built experiment to the edge of space aboard a stratospheric balloon, testing cutting-edge materials that could shape the future of space exploration.
Supported by the Mads Clausen Institute at SDU and guided by Special Advisor Arkadiusz J. Goszczak and Associate Professor Jakob Kjelstrup-Hansen, the students are turning bold ideas into reality.
By investigating how cosmic radiation affects organic semiconductors and crystal oscillators, the team is contributing to technologies that may one day enhance astronaut safety and power next-generation satellites.
From Sønderborg and Odense to the stratosphere, this project showcases how talent, innovation and collaboration can propel the next generation of engineers beyond Earth’s boundaries.
