2024 was quite good, I’d say: Moving into our new house. PB turning 1 and Daniel turning 3. Going to Paris. Getting to do improv again with a bunch of funny people.
We’ve been parents for three years and must admit— Daniel makes it easy!
…just kidding. He is emotional and clumsy and no toy is as good as the one he can take from his baby sister.
But he is also silly, kind, and loves a job. He likes to mow the yard with dada and “do makeup” with me. When I put him to sleep, he thanks God for planes and fire trucks and tells me, “I’m big.” And I tell him that no matter how big he gets, he’ll always be my baby.
I’m crying too much to write anymore. Happy birthday to our buster brown!!!
🩵💛12 months of Patty B. 🩵💛
I want to remember putting a bow in her hair when she was just one day old. I want to remember how small she was, and how big her brown eyes looked in that little face.
I want to remember the way she wakes up, smiling and wiggling, in her crib. I want to remember the first time I saw her get a hold on her paci and put it in her mouth. “She’s a genius,” I thought. “Has the world ever seen hand-eye like this?” (No.)
I want to remember how she flaps her arms and laughs when her brother walks into the room. I want to remember Daniel saying, “Pat B” and kissing her good night.
I want to remember the moment I first saw her face and knew, even then, she was her dad’s exact replica. I want to remember how she sits on Stephen’s shoulders and holds onto his head.
I want to remember her falling asleep on my chest and being exhausted to the point of delirium, but not putting her down. Not yet.
Patty B. for best baby of the year….and all time!
