“I'm going to die one day. I know it's coming for me, too. I'll be a mountain, I'll be a stone on the beach. I'll be nourishment.” Mary Oliver On November 11, 2025 I buried these stones. The moon was in a waning gibbous phase, 56% illumination. On May 1, 2026 I unearthed these stones. The moon was peak full, 100% illumination. This ritual of burying and unearthing feels like a death practice. Digging into the autumnal earth, letting go. Resting in the deep sleep of winter. Buried in earth and three feet of snow. Six months. Unearthing, digging with bare hands. Searching the wet spring soil for the buried stones. Counting them. Yes, eleven recovered. Witnessing the decay. The colors washed out, the linen rotted. The stones stained and discolored from the indigo and the dirt. Impermanent Ephemeral Perfect in everyway reminding me of how precious this very moment is. #deathpractice #crochetedstones #mainebeachstones #indigo #textileart #textileartist #textileartistofinstagram

Seeking donations of fabric, felt and ribbons for a community art project at two underserved rural Maine schools. The Mandala Community Weaving has been a steady force in my teaching career. Over and over again it shows that creativity can raise self esteem and build community. If you have materials to donate - please DM me. I teach up north soon - May 18- 20. Through connection, creativity and compassion - yes....we can make a difference! THANK YOU!!

“KHARIKLO’S WOMB” In naming this series, I honor the transformative power of feminine energy. Like a womb, the red crocheted linen wraps these hard, phallic rocks. In mythology, Khariklo (also spelled Chariclo, Chariklo) is Chiron’s wife. Khariklo's name means "Graceful Spinner" from the Greek words kharis "grace" and klôsis "to spin". I stand with Khariklo, in solidarity with the power of feminine energy to transform and heal this fractured planet and our human race….spinning grace. Madder dyed, hand crocheted linen. Maine beach stones. The same stones can be rearranged - dimensions variable. Approx 20" x 18" by 2.5" #mainebeachstones #crochetedstones #crochetedlinen #textileart #textileartist #stonecozies

The Portsmouth Public Art Review Committee and Portsmouth Recreation Department Cordially invite you to the Rededication of "Each One: The Button Project, a 9/11 Memorial" Wednesday March 25th 10 AM Community Campus 100 Campus Drive Portsmouth NH After 9/11, the textile artist Sarah Haskell of York ME wanted to create “something that lasts, while the memories fade.” The result was “Each One: The Button Project." Sarah Haskell’s artwork incorporates regimented rows of 3,116 – one for each life lost -- bone-colored buttons lined up across the dark linen handwoven backdrop as an abstract representation of the Twin Towers. The piece was displayed at the Currier Museum in 2002; then in 2011, the Portsmouth City Council voted to use gifted funds to purchase the artwork in honor and recognition of Evelyn Sirrell, who was Mayor from 1997-2005, including on September 11, 2001. In 2017, the September 11th Memorial and Museum in New York City asked to borrow the piece, where it was displayed until September 2019 when it returned to City Hall. The piece has just been installed in the atrium of the Portsmouth Community Campus main building, where the re-dedication will take place. I hope to see some of you - especially if you donated buttons or helped sew them on 25 years ago! #september11memorial #communityart #911memorial #textileart #textileartist #handweaving #buttonart

Here's a moment of Zen for you. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ Spinning white linen thread during the snowstorm. Spinning is such an ancient practice. Requiring your full attention and your whole body. So many myths, fairytales and folktales include spinning. So grounding and so elemental to be making thread. #handspinning #handspunlinenthread #backtobasics
