I felt like growing up was aspiring to be more of the Snufkin archetype, but ive realised maturing is realising you’re probably more of a Moomintroll.
Tove Jansson’s work always had a massive impact on me growing up, though I don’t think I understood how much or why at the time. Its a whimsy that has always stuck with me.
For the most part in life, you’re told to go out, discover, travel, find your meaning, whatever that “meaning” may be. So you do, Like a dog chasing its tail, you spend half your life looking for “it" and the rest wondering what you’d even do if you end up being one of the lucky ones that found it and didnt lose most of yourself along the way.
Homebodies, homebirds, are often spoken about like it’s something lesser. Like staying means you’ve missed out on something. The dreaded FOMO that haunts everyone and everything these days. But there’s a quiet kind of meaning in calling something home, be that a place a people or a concept.
I think ive always had a bit of both the lads in me. Neither one being any more greater than the other, I needed both at different times in life, and probably still will.
And I’ve made peace with that.

Shiiiire...Bagginnzzzz! Some ring wraith exploration for the month thats in it, trying to find a design for em. Even when aiming stuff at a young audience I try to work in some spooky vibes when it calls for em, folks don't give kids enough credit when it comes to comprehending heavy subject matter, theres a quote from tove jansson that always stuck with me: "In a children's book there must be a path where the author stands still and the child walks on. A threat or a wonder that is never explained. A face that never shows itself entirely"
Not everything needs to be sugarcoated or a hand to be held, not everything needs to be explained, theres power in the unknown when storytelling

And I must follow, if I can 🎶 Howdy folks! 👋 Been awhile since I posted doodles! Said I better do some sort of update. Been busy and a few bad experiences this year knocked me confidence and had a knock on effect second guessing my personal art, still doodling my life away, most stuff ends up condemned to "folders of no return" or just world building for personal projects. In my downtime ive been revisiting stuff that brings me doodlin joy. Of all the things I return to to doodle, lotr, hobbits and Tolkien stuff in general is right up there. I don't know of its a thing of emotional comfort or a guilty pleasure, but for me few things top getting the creative juices flowing like sticking on the film soundtrack and doodling away. Anyone else have similar things for them?

Awhile ago I saw someone wearing two odd pairs of runners and socks and it stuck out to me, was it because they were in a rush and could only grab those? Second hand anxiety set in, then I wondered, was it a deliberate fashion choice? Surely not I said, that would be a terrifying level of self confidence no?
