Tip of the Day: Prioritize your mental health and nurture your relationships. During our “What I Wish I Knew” interview with screenwriter, author and podcast host of @scriptnotespodcast @johnaugust shares about the importance of prioritizing your mental health and relationships. Working in the industry is only one part of who you are as a person. You are multi-faceted and making time to nurture your own wellbeing and your relationships will help you to live a more fulfilling life. As minors working in the industry, it can be easy to get caught up in the hustle culture and feel like you can only focus on your craft and art, but having good people around you means you will always win at life whether you book that job or not. Make time for yourself, friends, family and fun outside of the industry! Thank you to @johnaugust for making time to chat with Looking Ahead youth and families in this inspiring conversation. Looking Ahead members can listen to the full interview on our website. Not a member yet? Fun fact: I once had an entire Instagram account devoted to podcast recommendations, back as podcasts were just becoming mainstream. (It was called "Sara is All Ears", a metaphor predicated upon the fact that I had HUGE ears as a kid 👂 Cute, right?) Anyway. A couple months ago, one of the members of my writing group asked me to send a list of my favorite reading and writing related podcasts because I am that person always saying, "I just heard on a podcast...". So I figured I'd share them here as well! I've added some guidance on each slide so you get a sense of whether or not these particular shows may be up your alley: Slide 1: For writers looking for craft advice, perspectives, and ideas from the pros: Writers on Writing @writersonwritingpodcast 🖋️ and Scriptnotes @scriptnotespodcast (thanks to @lorigoldsteinbooks for the Scriptnotes rec!) 📑 Slide 2: For anyone who loves books, writing, and cozy friendships between ambitious women: Bad on Paper @badonpaperpodcast and Pen Pals @penpalspod 💞 Slide 3: For readers who like hearing the backstory and “lore” of a novel, straight from the author: Poured Over from @barnesandnoble @miwamesser ☕ and Books Beach & Beyond @booksbeachandbeyond hosted by @elinhilderbrand @timtalksbooks 🌅 Slide 4: For book nerds, especially literary or historical fiction fans, and aspiring writers in any genre: Jane Healey Happy Hour @healeyjane 🥂 and Always Authors @alwaysauthors 🗣️ Slide 5: For aspiring authors who vacillate between seeking realism 💩 and inspiration 🪂: The Shit No One Tells You About Writing @the_shit_about_writing and Rick Rubin's Tetragrammaton @tetragrammaton.now #podcastrecs #bookstagram #writersofinstagram #nowlistening

Jag behöver verkligen INTE ett intresse till. Men de har en tendens att hitta mig ... Tack för poddtipset för ett tag sedan @f.wallman , vilket ledde till att jag blivit en bok rikare.😅

If you’re looking to refresh your listening or step outside your usual topics, this is a good place to start👀 This week’s selection moves through culture and media, into investing and decision-making, then into storytelling and global experiences. Save this for your next walk, commute, or quiet moment.🎧

"I had a nervous breakdown." JOHN AUGUST ('Go', 'Big Fish', 'Scriptnotes' co-host) is a screenwriting icon, but the industry almost broke him early in his career. This is a necessary look at the dark side of screenwriting "success" - one that sounded all too familiar to me after my experiences creating 'Dracula'. 🎧 Listen to 5AM StoryTalk's entire conversation with John at the links in the bio. Use the search bar if necessary. #screenwriting #screenwritingtips #ScriptChat #storytelling #5AMStoryTalk
