In anticipation of Friday’s exhibition and launch, our new publication with @sly__morikawa ‘Everything Reminds Me Of You’ is now available for pre-order at a reduced price until Friday. The zine is 14x19cm, 52 pages, and comes with a fold out newsprint poster edition. Join us on Friday in Manchester 6-9pm to celebrate, with refreshments from @northernmonk Featuring an intimate and unapologetic series of works shot in Tokyo, Sydney, and everything throughout her travels, Sly’s work sits between a beautiful place of both masculinity and femininity- the two working in sync to form a raw understanding of the subtle elements of desire, power and friendship amongst her social interactions, and an understanding of the world around her. The work blends a tender mix of fashion, documentary, and diaristic photography in Morikawa’s signature style, highlighting a humble and soft approach to a formulated chaos that she depicts around her. Village is proud to publish this edition to coincide with Morikawa’s solo exhibition of the same name, running in collaboration with @screwgallery at Village in Manchester between August 18th, and September 10th, 2023

Opening Friday 18th August, at Village, Manchester- ‘Everything Reminds Me Of You’, a solo exhibition from @sly__morikawa We will be launching a new book/poster edition published in collaboration with @villagebooks.co Known for her sensitive, dreamlike photographs imbued with intimacy and softness, Morikawa’s work draws on recurring themes of sex, subculture and self. Her depictions of the angelic and the unorthodox return her audience to a sense of agency; a permission to suspend biases and taboo. Sly Morikawa is a photographer based between Sydney, Australia, and Tokyo, Japan. She has previously released publications with @friendeditions , @cataloguedesign , alongside several self-published works. She is a Co-director with @stonestreetagency & @stonestreet_tokyo
