We have some exciting news to announce… SCREEN ATX has new Festival Co-Directors!
Meet Luke and Martha Van Garza, the dynamic duo behind StarShine Films, a production company based in Austin. Some of you may know them already, as they were both at the SCREEN ATX festival in April. Luke, who has two film degrees and is also a screenwriting professor and script consultant, has been with SCREEN ATX since the very start, working silently out of the public eye as a member of our judging panel to watch and rate every single submission.
Between them, Luke and Martha have worked for various production companies and have co-produced numerous features and documentaries. Their collaboration has already yielded impressive results, with their film "Spectral Wind" earning numerous nominations on the festival circuit and Martha's directorial debut "Pete & Re-Pete" winning multiple awards.
Luke and Martha will be continuing the SCREEN ATX good name and mission to inspire and encourage filmmakers of all ages, providing a platform for those whose voices are overlooked by larger festivals.
It’s certainly not goodbye from us, and we’ll still be involved behind the scenes. We’ve had a fantastic time over the last few years and had the privilege of screening some phenomenal films, as well as getting to meet many of you in person. So, we will be at SCREEN ATX 2024 on April 27th at Galaxy Theatres, Austin, and we hope to see YOU there too!
