Great to see the conversation around sustainable production continuing @mpts_london this week, where the Screen Yorkshire Film Office team attended the panel discussion: Going Carbon Neutral On Set - Aligning Ambition with Reality.
The session explored both the challenges and opportunities facing productions working towards greener ways of filming — from access to sustainable power infrastructure and the realities of on-set battery power, to affordable sustainable tech and the potential of solar energy on set.
The wider discussion also highlighted the importance of:
🎬 Adapting studio spaces to support both large-scale productions and emerging content creators
🌍 Embedding diversity and inclusion across the industry
♻️ Finding more sustainable ways to work, including solar power and repurposing sets within local communities
💚 Supporting cast and crew wellbeing through better work/life balance initiatives and on-site support services
A vital and forward-thinking conversation about how the screen industries can align ambition with practical action.

The second half of the Screen Yorkshire Growth Plan Event brought together local creatives, businesses, educators and people from across the screen sector for roundtable conversations focused on the future of the industry in Yorkshire.
From talent development and production opportunities to infrastructure, collaboration and regional storytelling, the discussions were full of ideas on what could be added to help strengthen and grow the local sector.
Alongside the conversations, it was great to connect with so many people over some seriously tasty food too 🍴
A really valuable opportunity to hear different perspectives and contribute to shaping the future of screen in the region. 🚀

Kicking off this morning at the Screen Yorkshire Growth Plan Event in Leeds city centre 🎬
The day opened with insightful speeches from Andrew Sheldon (Chair of the Board for Screen Yorkshire), Caroline Cooper Charles (Chief Executive at Screen Yorkshire) and Helen Pheby (Head of Culture, Heritage and Sport from West Yorkshire Combined Authority). The morning focused on setting out Screen Yorkshire’s vision for growth across the region’s screen industries — and how the @westyorkshire_ca aims to support that ambition through investment, collaboration and long-term development.
A really positive start to the day, with a clear focus on creating opportunities, supporting talent and strengthening Yorkshire’s position as a leading destination for film, TV and digital production.
