Our goal is for the logo/brand to be easily recognisable both within our film community and to clients in the national and international screen industry. ✨ Special Announcement! @screen_ns is thrilled to announce the 2026 special award recipients for the upcoming Screen Nova Scotia Awards Gala! 🎥 This year's Film Crew Excellence Award recipient is cinematographer, director of photography and camera operator, Christopher Ball csc. Ball has been a fixture of the Nova Scotia screen industry for the past 25 years, shooting feature films, dramas, TV series, documentaries, commercials, music videos, and countless short films. As a hang glider pilot, ultralight aircraft instructor, diver, white water paddler, sailor and wilderness tripper, Ball brings the spirit of adventure to his craft, resulting in a specialty for Arctic, adventure and aerial cinematography. 🎉 This year's Community Recognition award recipient is @theemerginglenshalifax , co-founded by Tara Taylor and Shelley Fashan (pictured). For more than fifteen years, the festival has played a vital role in strengthening Nova Scotia’s screen community by creating space for diverse voices, meaningful dialogue, and cultural storytelling through film. Through its commitment to representation, mentorship, and community engagement, the Emerging Lens Cultural Film Festival has become an important pillar in our province’s screen sector and a champion for storytellers from historically underrepresented communities. 🎟️ These awards will be presented live on stage during the awards gala on Saturday, May 16th. Screen Nova Scotia is now accepting applications for the 2026/27 Diversity Mentorship Program! The deadline to apply is May 4th ⏰ To accelerate the development of emerging, diverse talent in #NovaScotia, @screen_ns is offering paid internship opportunities, each lasting four weeks.
