Hello friends, We’ve been watching the upcoming weather closely for the last few days and decided it would be best to postpone this weekend’s big shindig in the woods until our rain date, Saturday, April 18th. With the combination of rain and wind throughout the week and the strong possibility for rain on Saturday we think the trail may be a bit too muddy and generally too wet to enjoy an afternoon in the woods. Ticket holders should be receiving an email with instructions on forwarding their ticket to the rain date. If you are a ticket holder and do not receive an email please get in touch with us at [email protected]. This is the beginning of our anniversary month at scratch, where we feature small batch beers and cask ales and lagers every Saturday in April. That means that while we may not be holding our event in the woods this weekend, we’ll still be featuring an entirely new and special beer list this Saturday for all who can make it. We’ll post a beer list later this week. We have a couple of stein beers waiting to make an appearance this month and at least one will be on the list this Saturday. Our Kellerwald was sold out but it’s possible that with the change in schedule a few more tickets will open up. Thank you for your understanding!

Apple tree sale tomorrow, cash or check ATM available, trees are grafted on a semi standard b118 rootstock, and standard. I also have a few dwarf trees. There are a limited number of pear trees. Three historical French pears which have been growing along the Mississippi River for over two centuries, and Seckel pears. It would be helpful if people interested in trees could bring a bucket with them but I also have bags which will work just fine. I will have descriptions of all the varieties tomorrow. #scratchbeer

Scratch 13th Anniversary Kellerwald - Waldbaden • Scratch turns 13 in March this year and we’re doing something we’ve been dreaming up for a long time: we’re opening the woods behind the brewery for a very special beer tasting. • On Saturday, April 4th, join us for a beer festival outside the box—and outside the brewery. We’re setting up stations along a walk through the woods where we normally gather ingredients for our beer. At each station we’ll have cask beer pouring alongside wild teas, hot food, and warm fire pits. The loop will take you through some of the most scenic parts of our extended property along a large pond, and through diverse ecosystems that aren’t normally open to the public. You’ll be able to see the wild areas where we gather our plants and drink the beer made from those ingredients, all in the same place. Special teas at each station help tell the story of how the beer goes from plant to glass accompanied by hot soup, grilled toasts, and other foods (many of which will be made with foraged ingredients from our property) to fill you up on your way to the next station. • Your $50 ticket will include 8 half pours of cask beer, a grilled lunch, and samples of teas and other items along the approximately one-mile tour. Please be aware that there is one moderately strenuous hill to get back up to the main tasting room. (The path is not wheelchair accessible but we can pre-pour samples and provide food to those who can’t walk down the hill—please contact us ahead of time to arrange this.) You may begin your walk any time between noon and 4 PM and the stations will stop serving beer at 5 PM so everyone can get back up to the main tasting room while there is still light. In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be April 18th. More details on our website
