Many thanks to @debbie_smith_artist who gave a presentation on using paper scraps to create collages at the Northwest Collage Society’s recent retreat. I have started looking at my paper “leftovers” in an entirely new way! After working on a collage, I took the remaining scraps and piled them on a nearby book cover so I could carry them in to deposit in our wood stove. The next morning I noticed that the book was still there with the random scraps as I had forgotten to throw them out. I looked more closely and realized that they made a composition that I found rather pleasing. I took a photo of the scraps on the book cover. A few hours later I created the small composition, on the gray substrate, based on these random scraps with a few changes and a couple of additions.
