Well that was pretty badass! Nothing but gratitude from me. Got great friends that consider me and my work when opportunities arise, thanks @alanchinart and @tom__franco ! I’ve got a great partner that has encouraged and supported me on this bizarre path, thanks @sturdystix , couldn’t do it without you! The show is up all week 11-6pm, I encourage you to check it out, it’s sensory overload at its best, and definitely one of the most L.A. things I’ve been a part of! 👏🤩🔥❤️
I ❤️ L.A.! Where else can you take over an abandoned $.99 store and fill it with 100 of your favorite artist to put on a massive anti facist/ anti art fair, chaos of creative expression?!! Grateful to my friends @alanchinart and @tom__franco for the invite, and of course thanks to Barry McGee !!! Come check it out! 👏🤩🔥🔥🔥
@jeffreydeitchgallery -This Frieze Week, Barry McGee, in partnership with The Hole ( @theholenyc ), is taking over an abandoned 99 cent store along with 100 of his closest friends 🫶 ️❤️🔥 💥
One block from LACMA, the former discount store and fixture of the neighborhood for over forty years will get a new breath of life by reopening as an artist flea. The walls of the store will be covered with works by Barry, artworks from his personal collection, and some by his friends.
Throughout the week, The Hole will be hosting an Anti-Fascist Zine fair and will activate the space with bands and performances. Think of it as an artist healing center and community hangout zone.
99CENT turns toward the overlooked and the outsider, reclaiming the human side of the creative process over the commercial ☮️
6121 Wilshire Blvd
Los Angeles, CA
Opening reception: Sunday, February 22, 6-9 PM
February 23-March 1, 11-6 PM daily
I’m very honored to have had the pleasure of working with great cast and crew over the past year as we filmed five short films. I can’t even begin to say just how rewarding it’s been working with so many great people lending their talents, skills, creativity, and time. Editing is still in progress for a couple of the films, but just thought I’d highlight some individual actors who gave awesome performances. Here is Scott Meskill based in Los Angeles. His performance as Boss plays an important part in an upcoming short film currently in postproduction. More exciting things to announce soon. Also featured in these stills is Ryan Lane. And thanks to our director of photography, Micah Bisagni, for these great shots and so many others. @scottmeskill@ryanlane_official
It’s welding weather! To be honest, I’m not the best welder, got some shaky hands, but I’ve been itching to work with metal again. The past year I’ve been spending a lot of time with clay and with my spray foam figures. I miss the aggressive nature of steel. Clay conforms to your wishes( mostly 🥴), metal puts up a fight! Material matters, the characteristics of the media can drastically change the direction and meaning of the work. I love that I can achieve details in clay that are impossible in steel, and that I can achieve structural strength in steel that is impossible in clay. So maybe that’s the direction I steer the ship, some wonderful combination that allows me to tell the story in a new and original way. Here are just some of my previous welding projects that I have enjoyed revisiting.
I think it’s only appropriate to end 2025 with some weird shit. What a weird year?! Reality is weird, politics are weird, morals and norms are weird, A.I. is weird, foreign relations are weird, parenting is weird, social media is weird, healthcare is weird, the art market is weird, writing the word weird too many times is really weird! So I think in 2026, I’m just gonna do more weird shit. This mixed media piece is half ceramic and half assemblage, inspired by an article I read about singularity and the future of being human. Should be an interesting ride. 🫣#weird
