T to B on the new updated version of Apollo, pretty excited to have good dirt jumps to ride in Bend this year I didn’t think it would happen. Thank you so much everyone who got it done this week! 🫶 #mtb #trails #bikes #freeride #letsride

šŸ„‡ 1st place Novice Open at Rose City Swing! This was our first prelims dance and I really like how it set the tone for the rest of our dances, all of them were so playful and connected. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner, thank you Anna! 😊 #dance #wcs #swing #westcoast #dancing

Throwback from the drafts of a run through Duthie, I forget what this trial is called but it’s one of my favorites there! Was hoping to make a quick trip to Duthie during choreo camp but that was not realistic. #mtb #trails #bikes #letsride #mountainbike

ā€œI Did Something Badā€ Judges knew the assignment and gave us 13th place IYKYK… Here’s my proam routine that I performed at ā€œThe Openā€ this year! This routine was never about placement for me though, it was about getting myself out of my comfort zone, improving my dancing, and creating a piece of art with my teacher and good friend Elizabeth! I am really proud of how far my dancing came from the beginning of this routine until the end I think my quality of movement improved significantly, and also my stage presence. As someone who has stage fright just performing was scary, our first run at Swingtacular was one of the scarier things I’ve ever done. But by the end I actually enjoyed the spotlight and some confidence may have even shined through. I’m very thankful for all of Elizabeth and James’s coaching throughout the year and their patience with me as I struggled with certain things. Lastly I was slightly embarrassed to do a Taylor Swift song, as being a swiftie isn’t something I shared with many people for most of my life. What started as a high school crush, slowly grew into respect and love for a very talented musician and singer! In 2018 Ian and I secretly went to the Reputation tour and that really sealed the deal of my swiftieness. Taylor live is truly special and is unlike any other concert I’ve been to! I’m really happy I stuck it out and did that song because it ended up being so fun, and felt nice to just open up and show people a different side of me. šŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤ 2025 proam routine was a success!!! #wcs #swing #routine #reputation #taylorswift

Feet are tired, heart is happy, what a year! Thanks to my friends and family new and old, I am beyond grateful for you all! Such a special year for me! 13 dance conventions, 2 trips to Whistler, and one of my favorite weddings ever! I was really trying to balance my time well and make the best of all my days while still prioritizing my dancing but not forgetting about all the other things I love, and I think I succeeded in this! I didn’t fully reach my dance goals for the year but I got a hell of a lot closer! I started the year struggling to make it to semis and never making a final, and my end goal for the year was to make intermediate. Well I didn’t make intermediate but I have 15 of the 16 points I need! I ended up making finals 7 times this year and got 2nd place at dance and play. So overall I did make progress and I’m happy with my growth, it’s just been a slower roll than I was hoping for but I’ve learned to accept that. I also did my routine at the open and had so much fun with that! I’ll probably do a separate post about that at some point. Besides dance I spent a good amount of time on my bike maintaining my skills and even throwing a few new tricks which has become much more rare as I’ve gotten older. I had two amazing trips up to Canada and had some of my favorite days riding Whistler mountain bike park! My good friends Spencer and Cara also got married and their wedding was beautiful, definitely one of the highlights of this year! This coming year I’m hoping to continue growing as a dancer, hopefully begin my teaching journey, and continue to make the best out of all my days! I do plan on hitting less dance conventions this year and prioritizing some mountain biking goals I’ve been neglecting(need to get back to the desert). Anyway if you got this far I love you and wish you the best for this coming year šŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤ #2025 #dance #mtb #friends #trails

Here’s to making this next year even better šŸ–¤ #mtb #dance #wcs

One of my favorite memories from dancing is this spotlight dance with @dance_with_sarah ! As a baby dancer I remember watching spotlights from TAP thinking it was the coolest, the energy, the lights, the chairs it all seemed like such a wonderful platform to share our art as dancers. Now about two years into my west coast journey and I got to perform my own spotlight at TAP with a close friend, it still seems surreal. I am so grateful for my dance partner Sarah as she was one of the first follows to truly start being playful when we danced even when I was fairly new, she would always make the dances fun and throw in a little extra flair. As a newer dancer still stumbling around off time that meant so much to me and made me feel like a dancer, and probably played a part in me sticking with it. Overtime we became great friends and started practicing together which has been invaluable for my growth! I truly feel I can be completely myself dancer with her. I went into this competition with very low expectations as it was a novice/ intermediate strictly, so we were up against many intermediate leaders and intermediate partnerships, knowing that they have skills well beyond my own. But I was determined to have fun/ connected dances with a close friend. My goal was to be a supportive lead and show Sarah’s skills off as much as possible because she is such a gifted dancer in so many ways! When I originally asked her to do this with me I said we had to do a strictly before she made ā€œAdvancedā€, after that I don’t think I’ll ever catch up and probably won’t have another opportunity to do another strictly for years. And that’s exactly what she did that weekend, she got 1st place in her intermediate Jack N Jill and now qualifies for advanced! I’m so proud of her and all the hard work she’s put in! I can’t wait to see where her dance journey takes her but with her determination there’s only one way she’s going and that’s up. One of the first ever west coast swing dances I watched was with Brandi Guild and Ben Morris at TAP. Their playfulness, improvised musicality, and elegance really stood out and it confirmed that I should give west coast a try. Fast forward nearly two years later, I danced my first ever improvised spotlight dance with Brandi in the Retaliation Swing strictly! This isn’t that dance as I didn’t really like the song we got (Twerk it like Miley) and I just liked this dance more. I’m really proud of how far I’ve come on my dance journey, and love the community/ friends I’ve made along the way! Thanks for the dances Brandi šŸ–¤ ps: I thought it was fun to mess around with adding text, let me know what you think! #wcs #swing #swingdancer #westcoastswing #partnerdance #dance #dancing #improvised

A little late August recap! 3 weekends, 3 dance events, very little sleep! My August was filled with dancing, family, and friends it was amazing! It started off in San Francisco at Swingtacular which is one of my favorite events of the year. The big highlight of that weekend was performing my Pro-Am routine with Elizabeth for the first time in front of the largest crowd I’ve ever performed for. We had a fairly clean run (slightly rushed) but overall I was happy with our performance. As someone who has stage fright that was one of the scarier things I’ve ever done but I actually really enjoyed it in the moment! From there I headed straight to Denver to spend the week with my sister, brother in law, niece, and nephew! It was first time meeting my new niece (baby Katharina) and she is the cutest! My sister and I get along better than anyone in my family so it was really nice to spend some time with her. We spontaneously went to the Gracie Abrams concert at Red Rocks which was wonderful , and also checked out Meow Wolf! Then from there I went to Swing Time Denver. It was such a fun event for me as I had a super lucky draw in the All American (Lizzy Spann) I loved those dances, and I also snuck my way into the final in my Jack N Jill where my partner and I (Jane Guo) ended up 6th! After that I head home to finish the trio off at my home event ā€œThe Bend Connectionā€ I love this event as it’s so cool seeing all the dance friends in my hometown as well as some of our baby dancers experiencing their first convention! I had some truly incredible social dances that weekend, but comps were just not going to talk about those… Thank you for the photos šŸ–¤@s2dancephotography @baum08 #westcoast #westcoastswing #dance #convention #swing #partnerdance #dancing

That slide was so smooth!!! 🧈 Rare that my favorite comp dances of the weekend are blues but this one stood out to me because my footwork and body movement look a little better than usual! It was such an honor dancing with @brandiguild in the retaliation strictly, she was so gracious the whole time and we had a blast! For those of you don’t know Brandi is a champion level dancer and one of the most notorious in west coast. I’m realizing that even though my progress through the competition levels is taking longer than most, that as a novice I get opportunities like this and for that I am extremely grateful. We ended up making finals which was a push out solo spotlight (my first improvised spotlight) and I feel very fortunate to have done it with a partner who was so supportive and who helped me look good! Thank you so much Brandi!!! I’ll never forgot our dances šŸ–¤šŸ–¤ VC: @1moorekameron #dance #wcs #westcoastswing #westcoast #partnerdance #blues #dancecompetition #swing
