This kid has been on a thousand all week and I absolutely blame his cousins šŸ˜‚. He’s as adorable as he is mischievous… which is a part of the problem. Yuppp… that’s DEF our kid right there šŸ˜…. #ToddlerTime #LordHelpUs

Hopefully this doesn’t get clipped to make it sound like something it’s not šŸ™ƒā€¦ these are just some thoughts from an old man who knows the potential for the genre of spoken word is truly infinite. I’m genuinely so hopeful for what’s ahead. I’d love to hear what’s in the works already. Who is already building the ā€œFunny AFā€ (using comedy as a natural comp) for spoken word poets right now? What open mics platform are dreaming up ways to create spaces that 1,000x the digital audience scale for the artists they serve? Is it even a goal? A good chunk of my own energy over the years has been spent developing poets or getting them connected to the resources they need to develop themselves. Truthfully I spend very little time thinking about how to develop for the ā€œbrandā€ of poetry itself too. I’ve been abundantly blessed to do some cool things (mostly connected to faith spaces) to perform spoken word in ā€œunlikely rooms.ā€ My hope every time I perform outside of natural poetry scene is to share my art well enough to not be the last poet they book. In terms of impact for the genre overall — it’s negligible… but it’s ā€œwhat I can doā€ to serve other artists. I’m curious though — who are the builders? Who are the dreamers? What are the things to put weight behind that can change the game entirely? Like I said — I’m just an old man with thoughts. Would love to hear yours.

EARLY BIRDS for our June show have officially expired. General Admission price ($15.00) is locked in from now until doors open on June 9th. Rest of the shows in 2026 are all live at $10.00/pop currently. Comment ā€œEarly birdā€ on this post and we’ll DM you a promo code to drop June’s price back down to $10.00. Beloved, this is your last chance to squeak in at $10 for June 9th. Consider it a ā€œmoms always give you a second chanceā€ discount for the holiday. Rest of our year: June 9th ft @qflomusic_215 August 18th ft @the_eluzai October 20th ft @caitlyndevineymusic December 1st ft @essencenatay All four of these are going to be legendary. If you want to connect about how to get free tickets to the rest of the year by becoming a monthly supporter of our non-profit covering — reach out via DM and we’ll explain how that works. Much love regardless. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there šŸ‘. #CreativesPhilly #CreativesPier #CrossGenre #OpenMic #Philly

One of the mini projects I’ve been working on recently is round 2 of the #PassTheMic ā€œRipe Poetry Tour.ā€ First one was all the way back in 2024. This 2026 iteration will be a little more localized, but I’m super excited about it. A couple conversations still need to happen before we can go ā€œpublicā€ with the stops. Lord willing we should be able to share ALL the details with the local spotlights, times, locations etc by end of this month. Grateful the squad has the heart to go do this kind of stuff together. Getting to bring something unique to a community is a really special gift. Ridiculously hopeful for how this is going to go! #RipeCreatives #RipePoetry #RipePoetryTour

It’s been a few weeks since Oracles 2026. The feedback and perspective shared since the experience has been super humbling and life-giving. I’m genuinely so grateful for how well Oracles 2026 went overall. We met as a team earlier this week to debrief and decided to take some more time to discern the future of this thing. ā€œGood thingsā€ — dare I say even ā€œgreat thingsā€ — are not necessarily ā€œGod thingsā€ just because they look successful. Jesus commands us to be like a builder who counts the cost before he starts to build something. Nearly two full years ago we counted the cost and decided it was worth it to try to do something special to create Oracles. A year ago we did the first one which was amazing. After it was over though, I was completely content IF Oracles never happened again. Unexpected radical generosity (with a bit of a strong-arm to run it back IYKYK) compelled us to do it again in 2026. I wholeheartedly believe God was honored by our joint decision to host it again this year. The truth is though, ORACLES does has a tremendous cost tied to it and I’m not even talking about dollars and cents. At the end of the day, God always provides one way or another for the bottom line of our ministry in supernatural ways. It’d be wonderful if that provision wasn’t at the absolute last second every single time LOL, but He’s the boss so I’ll shush up about that one. The real COST around Oracles is the time. I spend hundreds of hours on this thing from the beginning of summer all the way up until the day of the show the following spring. Dozens of other people spend loads of time to make it possible too. Has it been ultimately ā€œworth it?ā€ I think it’d be hard to make a case against it considering all the fruit from 2025 & 2026. But before any decision about 2027 can really be made — we have to count the cost again. Time is that one thing none of us really know how much we have left of it. It’s a sobering reality that has to weighed with the utmost humility and respect. Will Oracles make a return in 2027? I honestly don’t know rn, but I would certainly ask for your prayers as we seek to hear His voice on the matter these next couple of weeks šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

It’s an impossible task to put into words what God did at Oracles 2026 a couple of weeks ago. Huge thank you to @ehstudio.co for capturing some of the images that tell a bit of the story. Thank you to the team, the sponsors, the artists, and most of all to the people who came to support those who poured their souls into everything that took place. Poems were delivered. Worship was given to Jesus. Prayers were sent. It was a beautiful night. Keep our team in prayer as we meet to debrief and pray about the future. Everything is always ultimately in God’s hands. Regardless of what’s ahead we truly believe the past two Oracles experiences were our best offerings to the Lord. May God alone get the glory! #RipeCreatives #RipePoetry #RipeArtists #RipeWorship #Oracles2026

I love this piece so much because of who and what it’s ultimately about. Performing in a new space with new people who have no idea where the piece is headed is always a fun. ā€œTell-A-Visionā€ at @wordswingsandwine 4/10/26. Tap in with @heytyce .
